Tulippaw's Moonstone Journey

"Tulippaw!" Mothglow called, looking on the positive side of life as she so often tried to. The traveling herbs were bundled, the apprentices were hopefully awake, and it was time for yet another ShadowClan cat to speak to their ancestors. What they would say, in the wake of recent events, remained a mystery.

IC: Bounding over to Mothglow's side at her beckon, Tulippaw couldn't contain her excitement. "Let's get this show on the road, I'm ready to become a warrior!" she exclaimed, barely able to keep any calm composure she might have had. Swallowing up the herbs, she looked to the medicine cat, ready to get going.

"Calm down," Mothglow advised, well aware of the irony of those words coming from her. "We'll get to the Moonstone whether we rush there or not, and StarClan will speak to you when they're ready no matter when we arrive. You can't rush them - you can't make them do anything, really," she added after a moment, a tad more bitterly than she might have before all of this nonsense began. "Follow me."

She led the way across the territory, under the Thunderpath and up to Mothermouth. "Stay close," she murmured at the tunnel's entrance, an of-repeated warning that carried more weight now. Its darkness weighed on her now more than it ever had, but she still led the way through and nudged Tulippaw toward the Moonstone. "Touch your nose to the stone, and if they will it, they'll greet you."

Nodding in acknowledgement, the pippy apprentice followed Mothglow across the territory and soon enough, they reached Mothermouth, which was a sight to see in of itself. Right behind the medicine cat, the eager apprentice stared in awe at the Moonstone as if dimly lit the cave in which they stood. Nodding as Mothglow spoke and trying to hold back the urge to squeal with excitement, Tulippaw laid down and touched her nose to the cold stone, wondering who would meet her up in the stars.

Up in the starry realm of StarClan territory, the shape of a large cat was seen in the distance, seeming to have anticipated Tulippaw’s arrival. The cat approached her once she opened her eyes, and once he reached her, he stood over her at about two times her height. He was a large and broad tom with long, thick dark tabby fur. While most cats would have thought him intimidating by his appearance, the gentle kindness in his vivid orange eyes would convince any cat of his compassion.

”Greetings, Tulippaw,” the tom meowed in a gentle, low voice. ”My name is Scorchstar, the leader who had been succeeded by Thornstar. I am your mother’s father and your father’s best friend.” His throat rumbled in a purr, happy to he meeting his granddaughter. He was so very happy for Ravenmist and Daisyflame both, glad to see the two of them were able to move on after such difficult aspects of their lives to find love and happiness with each other.

Having fallen asleep within an instant, Tulippaw awoke on the starry plains. Gingerly pushing herself up, the apprentice stared in awe at the magnificent sight and before she was able to looked around more, some-cat approached her. His gaze held the comforting gaze of a friend, though she was unsure of who exactly he was. Standing up a little straighter and puffing out her chest fluff as the stranger took his place in front of her. Part of Tulippaw was nervous as to what might happen or his reason for being here, but what he said next made her jaw drop; literally.

"You're Scorchstar? The Scorchstar?" she gasped. Great Silverpelt, this was the cat that her father never failed to mention! "My father will not shut his maw about you, did you know that? Why'd you have to go and die on him and every-cat?" the apprentice mewed with a roll of her eyes and then locked her somewhat annoyed, yet all the more excited gaze on Scorchstar's as she pressed on with her questions.
