Honk Honk, Motherclucker [Closed]

Honeytongue's eyes were closed as she laid sprawled out across Sunningrocks, basking in the fading warmth of Leaffall. There was a comfort in that no matter how cold it got, the sun always was there to provide a nice warmth to soak in...Almost enough to distract her from her thoughts. She had been doing her best to keep herself from dwelling on her loss. She missed Redmask, she really did but...She hadn't been the only cat lost to RiverClan. Berrycloud and Myrtlebrook had died from sickness and the whole Clan grieved. She had to be there for them, she just...She couldn't dwell on her own misery.

There was a faint sound of shuffling that caught her ear, followed by a hiss. But...The hiss was off. It wasn't from a cat and as her eyes flickered open, she found a white bird approaching her. A...Goose. She slowly got to her paws, ears pinned back as she stared at the approaching bird with confusion. She had heard about geese, how they could be dangerous but...They certainly didn't look any different from a bird. Well, they were larger she supposed. Also they hissed. It was hissing at her. Why was a bird hissing. She let out a soft hiss back as she took a step away, not looking for a fight.

But it seemed she was out of luck when it suddenly lunged forward. She yelped, trying to duck to the side but the goose's beak nailed her shoulder. She was sent rolling from the sheer force, blood pooling from where it had managed to break skin with that nip. Her eyes were wide, suddenly very terrified of what she was fighting. But it was a goose - a bird. There wouldn't be any running if it could just chase her down and it was clear the thing was violent. With a grimaced, she pushed herself to her paws and charged at the beast - yowling a battle cry...But also in sheer hope that somebody would hear her and perhaps lend aid.

Sometimes, when Dawngaze strayed too close to the RiverClan border, she wondered if her webbed paws and powerful frame would allow her to swim as easily as the full-blooded RiverClan cats across the river. Other times, she remembered the humiliating defeat in her battle with Mottledspark, the blasted warrior from the swimming clan, and how she left missing several patches of fur when she was just an apprentice. On this day, she recalled the latter. Seeing an unrecognized RiverClan warrior basking on the rocks ignited her distaste, but her angered reaction cut off rather suddenly.

A great, ugly bird approached the she-cat aggressively, striking after a few odd hisses. Dawngaze was tempted to ignore the fight and move on, leaving the warrior to defend herself, but her yowl was loud and difficult to ignore. Dawngaze didn't fall prey to pity. She was hardened and held no compassion for... well, anybody. Her decision to interfere was purely political. Perhaps RiverClan would be grateful and do something about it, but possibly not. One could hope.

Charging without regard to the border, Dawngaze extended her claws and leapt upon the bird, scoring down its sides and tearing out feathers with each paw.

Dawngaze used Run-and-Tackle on the goose, dealing 10(+3) damage and using 10 stamina.

A sigh of relief flooded through Honeytongue at the sudden sight of the ThunderClan warrior - not even caring that she was crossing the border. Any help was needed because she had not been ready for the wrath of a goose. Why was it so angry?!? She darted forward with a soft growl, wincing as the goose flared its wings, striking her head with the feathers as she was forced to draw back in surprised by the strength of it. She stared at the goose with an almost flicker of fear before she reared upwards, bringing her paws down onto its neck as she tried to pin it to give her new ally an opening to end it.

The creature's fate was sealed. The golden warrior held it down despite its thrashing, leaving a wide open neck which was long and fleshy. Dawngaze, wasting no time on formalities, ducked in and gripped its neck in her teeth, sharp fangs digging into it and drawing an abundance of blood. She ripped and gnawed, separating bone and muscle, until the bird no longer moved and she was drenched down her front with its blood. The fight had been over before it even truly begun, and Dawngaze relished the adrenaline of killing something so easily. She glanced up at the stranger and dipped her head, her icy cool mask returning. "Well-fought, stranger. I will return to my territory. My apologies for the trespass." She meowed simply, turning her back and escaping through the thick foliage of ThunderClan territory.

Dawngaze used Teeth Grip, dealing 10 damage and using 20 stamina. The goose has been KO'd.

Honeytongue sighed in relief as the goose fell still beneath her paws and the other warrior's teeth, taking a step back once it was clear that it was dead. She shook her head, trying to judge the severity of her wounds when the voice of the other she-cat caught her ear. She glanced up, mouth open to respond but only caught the fleeting glimpse of her tail as she was gone as fast as she had come. "I...Uh...Thank you!" she called out after the ThunderClan warrior, disappointed that she hadn't gotten a name. She stood there somewhat awkwardly before she turned to stare at the still body of the goose. Now what was she going to do with this...? She thought about sending it down-stream, not wanting to deal with it but she supposed with the coming leaf-bare, they needed all the prey they could get. So, with a heavy sigh she leaned down and grabbed the goose by the neck and awkwardly started to tug it back to the camp.

It was most certainly not how she had been expecting to spend her day but...Well, at least it was some sort of excitement.
