Duskpaw's Moonstone Journey

"Hello Beepaw." Duskpaw mewed simply, green eyes unwavering with a bold curiosity. She stood on her tip-toes to face the larger tom, sniffing his starry frame with interest. "I like bees." She mewed, lowering back onto her haunches to stare at the tom.
A few moments seemed to pass, the seemingly artificial forest glimmering dully in the gray moon. The wind whispered through the branches, and Duskpaw found herself wondering how the cats of StarClan had died. She only saw one. But perhaps someday she'd find them all. The young dusty cat had infinite curiosities, stretching beyond what was logical. But Duskpaw did not speak in terms of what was smart. She only dealt with what was possible. "What will we chat about?"

Beepaw acted like he was thinking about it- of course, he knew exactly what they were going to talk about. He had paced the moor before this moment, running his mind through every possible scenario. "Well, you're living a life surrounded by cats who will wrong you, that's just life. Me, I died trying to get some kinda revenge on someone for, uh, existing? But, uh! Don't let that stop you!" Oh no, this was going so bad! Not according to script at all! "Anyway, don't be afraid to tell them what you think! Just, maybe don't die while doing it." This was fine. Absolutely nothing was wrong here.

Duskpaw followed Beepaw with her eyes, not wanting to lose sight of the strange cat and his strange views. "You didn't survive?" The apprentice asked, head cocked. It seemed Beepaw had fought battles to, but he was killed. Duskpaw blinked, unable to keep up with his philosophies. "I don't know what to think." She stated simply after Beepaw's advice, tail flicking. "It doesn't matter. I have to kill a cat, Beepaw." Some part of her wished that the strange apprentice would grant her clarity, would tell her that it was okay to let Beartooth live. But not even the starry cats could defy the balance. Duskpaw would answer to it as well.

Beepaw, he had to say, was quite startled at her statement. On one paw, murder was against the Code. Since he was Starclan now, he was supposed to be good. And they all expected him to do what was right here. On the other paw, how had he died? Trying to kill a cat. Who was he to tell her not to follow in his pawsteps(but better)? After a conflicted moment of inner debate, he figured out exactly what to say. Cryptic and vague, that was Starclan's thing, right? "Well, if you truly believe that this cat is a codebreaker and deserving of death... Do what you think is right." That would be good enough. He hoped.
