| Ferretkit blinked his eyes open in the darkness of the nursery. He was only still a moment longer, before hopping to his small paws and immediately darting for the entrance. The little tom kit was really only stationary when he was asleep, and even then he twitched and rolled more than most other cats. Needless to say, he didn't get many cats arguing over who got to sleep nearest to him. The little guy was an orphan, his mother having passed away from a secondary infection shortly after his birth. He didn't let the loneliness get to him, though. He thought of the entire Clan as his immediate family, and shied from speaking to no one.
As he poked out of the nursery, he blinked his big just-changed green eyes in the sudden burst of sunlight, glancing around for anyone who he thought would hang out with him. His paws shifted under him, gearing up to dart off at a moment's notice. |

| Spotpaw laid in the sunlight. Aspenheart told her to rest since she went to the gathering. So Spotpaw did just that. She the noticed the orphaned kit known as Ferretkit. The new kit was born during all the crazy stuff that happened. The kit looked excited. Slowly Spotpaw got up to her paws and padded towards the little kit.

| Ferretkit bounced upright as Spotpaw approached, his green eyes lighting up. The apprentice was older than him and got to go out of the camp and to the gathering and so she was infinitely cool in his eyes. A story sounded great! Not as good as a wrestle or some other game, but he could definitely get on board with a story as long as she didn't mind him hopping all about her as she told it.

| Spotpaw nodded sitting down. "Well as an apprentice you get to meet cats from other clans and fight dangerous beasts! I got my wound from one of those beasts." Spotpaw mewed looking towards where her wound was. She didn't say that the beast that had done that to her was a cat.
"Also you get to go the moonstone and talk with Starclan. I talked with a starclan cat and she was really nice! You'll get to go soon!" Spotpaw cotinued speaking. | Ferretkit's tail lashed as he imagined himself fighting some 'beasts', cats from all the other Clans also around. He had no concept of what the beasts might be, and in his mind's eye they were essentially huge shadowy cats.
"Did it hurt? But you definitely gave them some wounds to remember you by, right?" His ears twitched, satisfied in his unwavering belief that WindClan was the best.
His whiskers twitched in seeming disbelief, "How do you speak to StarClan? Do...Do you think my mom might be there?" He couldn't remember her, so he really wasn't sure how he felt about that possibility. Shaking the thoughts away with a physical shake of his head, he bounced in place to get his spirits back up. | Spotpaw purred at the kit's question. "Well she told me to look to the future. To drop all the bad things. And of course your mother is in Starclan. She was very kind." | Ferretkit wasn't hurting horribly for the family he had lost, as he had been taken in and given all the love he needed by his Clanmates, but some part of him still wondered and wished for his mother and father.
"Maybe I'll see her, then. And she can give me advice just like you got!" He could no longer stay still and bounced excitedly around Spotpaw, wishing she was healed enough to play with him. ______________________________________ |

| Spotpaw looked at the jumpy kit. "I'm sure she will!" Spotpaw purred. Noticing a twig from the gorse bush Spotpaw picked it up. She buried it in a hole and covered it back up. She then looked towards Ferretkit. "Okay now dig up the twig! You might need digging skills one day!" | A happy purr rumbled in his throat at her words, although his ears pricked and his eyes narrowed slightly in confusion as she buried the twig. He had never really thought about digging much before, and he wasn't sure when he would ever need the skill, but he had to admit it kind of sounded like fun.
"Okay!" Ferretkit darted over to the spot where she had buried it, and sank his claws into the dirt to dig it up. A few moments later, he had the twig grasped in his teeth, and looked proudly over at Spotpaw. ______________________________________ |

| Ferretkit felt his entire body prickle with happiness. He was so pleased that he had managed to impress the apprentice in some way, no matter how simple.
"Thanks, Spotpaw! I can't wait to get a mentor!" it truly felt like it would take a lifetime. Couldn't he just be six moons old already? ______________________________________ |
