Mistakes to be made?

Frostkit was so bored, and he was being left to his own devices, probably a very bad thing. His eyes scanned around the camp and he just went running around, to expend energy, not sure what else to do. That was when his eyes landed on the entrance to Torrentstar's den and a playful glint shown in his blue eyes. He crouched and began stalking his way towards the den as stealthily as he could.

One would expect warriors to be able to solve their disagreements peacefully. After all, they were grown cats who had earned their full names, and they shouldered considerable responsibility within the clan. But apparently such rationality was too much to ask for when it came to certain of the RiverClan warriors. That afternoon, after returning from the sunhigh patrol, Torrentstar had had to arbitrate a squabble between two clanmates. The cause of the argument had been something as trivial as accidentally treading upon another's tail, but overreactions on both sides had caused emotions to flare. In the end, the scene had devolved into the two warriors throwing hissy fits, much like kits barely six moons old. While such incidents were fortunately few, the need for his intervention always left a bitter taste in the leader's mouth.

For the stars' sake, did he not already have enough to worry about, without his warriors causing additional problems among themselves? The onset of the colder seasons meant preparation for harsher times, but it seemed Riverclan had internal problems to face as well.

As usual, Torrentstar had not slept well the night before. His dreams had been vivid, colorful... and terrible. He was heading to his den, with hopes of catching a quick nap and recharging, when a flicker of white by its entrance caught his attention. A frown tugged at the corners of his maw, further darkening his expression. It did not take long before he made the white flicker out to be snowy tufts of fur. The large tabby sighed internally. Wonderful―it seemed he had a tiny visitor to entertain.

"May I help you?" The RiverClan leader asked, once he had stepped within earshot of the tom kit. His stony features betrayed no emotion. Fatherhood had somewhat softened his stance on kits, but there was a wariness in the way he spoke.

Frostkit spun around on his paws, having already been in the leader's den, and his eyes got wide as he realized that that was who was addressing him now.  "I, uh, um..." he stammered, as he looked into the eyes of Torrentstar.  "I... wanted to come say hi!" he finally managed with an affectionate purr to sell it home.  He had actually been hoping to set up some sort of prank for the leader, and was planning on being long gone before he could identify who did it.

He didn't have much longer to act like a kit, and he thought perhaps his last week or so should go out with a bang.
