Newleaf Snow

Mosspaw had let out a small squeak of surprise as the kit nestled into her belly and began to search for milk. She hadn't been expecting it, and felt her face flush in surprise and embarrassment, and almost sadness that she had none to offer to the kit. Looking to Flintfang, eyes still shining with embarrassment, she mewed. "We'll have to find someone who can nurse her.." Turning to look back at the mother, she responded. "We have to - I'll come back myself to get her if I must." Her eyes shown with determination, and although they were still kind, the resolve behind them showed clearly.

As they began the trek home, Mosspaw's neck started to ache, the long journeys of the past moon catching up quickly to her. When Flintfang offered to take the kit, she hesitated, she had began to grow attached and feel protective over the kit, and she didn't want Flintfang to think she was weak... But her better judgement won out. With a nod, she gently set the kit down between her paws, taking a moment to lick her fur the wrong way and warm her up again before passing her to Flintfang, occasionally reaching her nose over to sniff the small kit as they made it back to camp.
