Bonewatcher let out a short huff and Emberheart approached them. He didn’t mind to have her as company, but he couldn’t help but wish that having someone else on the patrol wouldn’t delay their return too much. He, however, didn’t let these thoughts show and just greeted the older warrior with a smile and a polite nod before looking around. It had been a couple minutes for the rest of the cats to react, they didn’t. It was clear none was exactly excited to go out hunting…plus he didn’t want to give them the chance to.
“Come on, let’s go before the cold scares off the prey” His words were slightly hurried as he started to walk out of camp without waiting for a reply from his clanmates. His hurry could easily be mistaken by dedication or legit worry of such event occurring. Not of actual desire to just get this over with.
He wasn’t even that far away from the camp when he started to look for the scent of prey. A genuine smile soon reached his muzzle as the scent of bird reached his nose, his favorite prey, and looking up he soon caught sight of it on one of the lower branches of a nearby tree. With little effort, he jumped towards the frozen bark of the tree, his hooked claws thanks to his mother’s ancient SkyClan blood taking a firm grip of it as he quickly climbed up with the strength he got from his father. Unsurprisingly, he scared the bird as he stepped onto the branch, but as it started to take flight he jumped towards it without much thought, catching it mid-flight.
He had learned from the bad experience on his assessment, so unlike what it looked like, he didn’t jump on a suicide mission. As soon as he caught the bird, he changed his position to land somewhat ungraciously on a patch of freshly fallen snow. The hit still hurt a bit and the cold white crystals made him shiver as he crawled out from it, but he knew he had been victorious and that was more than enough.

Streampaw smiled at Emberheart as she approached, glad to see they would have some company on their hunt after all “Great! It will be nice to hunt with you!” His eyes went to the camp first, clearly expecting more cats to join in, but Bonewatcher’s words caused him to look at him and nearly trip on his paws as he spun around to not get left behind, not even having the time to say anything to him nor about other cats maybe wanting to join in as well. He wasn't expecting the scene that was presented to him when he arrived though.
Streampaw had heard of Bonewatcher’s unusual ways of hunting, but this was madness! He acted more like a SkyClan cat, not a ThunderClan one!
His eyes went from him to Emberheart before a very distinctive squeaking caused his head to look forward. The Newly Appointed Warrior had missed a squirrel on his chase for the bird, which, startled, had ran down the trunk in search for safer grounds. Terrible mistake.
Knowing he had not much time and stealth wouldn’t work this time, he had to think in a different way as he would usually do and launched himself in front of the path of the squirrel. His bite missed at first, but on a mix of quick reaction and luck, his paw managed to hit the scared animal, stunning it as it threw it to its side.
Not wanting to give it a chance to recover and escape, he pounced on it, killing it with one swift bite.
