Winning Stupid Prizes

Dawnpaw skulked into camp, fresh wounds bleeding and a patch of thick fur missing from her flank. It was a bitter defeat at the border, and she was irritated that her plans had been disrupted. She'd remember that annoying tom, and she'd get revenge if it was the last thing she did. But for now, she had to get her wounds seen to so they wouldn't fester. Intending to avoid Marshstorm, Beartooth, and Duskpaw, Dawnpaw skirted around the sides of the camp and entered the medicine den with a quiet sigh of exasperation. "Pricklepaw? Are you here?"

Pricklepaw looked up from his increasingly small herb piles to see an injured apprentice. What was her name? Dawnpaw? He saw her bloody claw marks and sighed. "That looks painful. Come here, and I'll see what I can do." Once, he would have dreaded the day when he knew every herb by name and could assemble a poultice quicker than you could say "medicine cat". But now, he found himself somewhat pleased with his progress as he snatched handfuls of herbs and cobwebs from separate piles. That wasn't to say that he liked his job, but he'd put a lot of time into memorizing the herbs after vowing he'd never let another cat die on him. And now getting all the ingredients to heal someone was easy. He applied the chewed-up plants without further comment, adding some wards against infection for good measure. "So, border skirmish?"

Pricklepaw used Full Heal on Dawnpaw, restoring all her HP and SP.

She obeyed wordlessly, approaching the large tom and waiting patiently while he inspected her cuts. The slight sting of herbs in her torn skin made her grimace, but otherwise Dawnpaw made no comment and stayed perfectly cooperative. "Something like that." She responded to Pricklepaw's question, a dark look crossing her gaze and her brow furrowing. "RiverClan scum." The tabby muttered. Of course she was fully aware that she shared more blood with that fool of a tom from RiverClan than with the very medicine cat that was fixing up her wounds, a fact that made her uncomfortable and resentful the moment it crossed her mind. Dawnpaw's features hardened and the rest of her body stiffened as she waited for Pricklepaw to make his next move.
