Blossompaw's Warrior Ceremony

Stars hung heavily in the rich night sky, gleaming softly like pristine chips of unsoiled ice. Weak light, hardly enough to illuminate the decaying moorland, soured the powdery drifts of snow that besieged the grassland. Though the clouds that had initially borne the ill-weather had long since been reduced to nothing more than the occasional smudge upon the horizon, the biting gales relentlessly stirred the freshly fallen snow without mercy. The tender flesh of the underside of Brindlestar's paws wailed in protest with the unwelcome contact boasted by the frost-dusted Tallrock, yet the molly's smooth demeanor wouldn't have inflamed as much as a single hint of such activity. New Warriors for new seasons, a steaming cascade of breath accompanied the reluctant musing, but would it ever be enough? "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath the Tallrock!"

The cream brown and white she cat heard the call and shook her fur out it puffed out slightly for a moment. Before she smoothed it down. With excited bright green eyes she moved and sat down quietly. This was her warrior ceremony she knew it and she was ready to finally have a place in her clan. Her home. Her start in life was a rough one and when she was taken in by the clan she worked hard to prove herself and here she was about to receive her warrior name. She lifted her head slowly looking at Brindlestar

"We gather here today to bestow the title of Warrior upon one of our Apprentices." Brindlestar's voice gradually rose above the soft clamor of conversation that lingered upon the air, honeyed with a benign emotion yet to fully discern itself. Flicking tail abandoning its restless movements in favor of merely winding itself across her tightly gathered limbs, the pale-furred Leader remained silent for a heartbeat or so. Steaming rivulets of breath hanging heavily upon the damp air, silvery tendrils curling across the chilly night for merely a finite moment. "She has proven herself worthy to climb the ranks of WindClan and receive her Warrior name." Gaze slowly drifting back towards the young molly who lingered below the looming outline of the stone, the molly's raspy voice was slow and methodical as she finally voiced the highly anticipated command.

"Blossompaw, please step forward."

Blossompaw listwned intently as the leader spoke before the she cat stood on her paws stepping forward her tail flicking a bit.

"I, Brindlestar, Leader of WindClan, call upon my Warrior ancestors to look down upon this Apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble Code, and I commend her to you as a Warrior in return." There was a persistent ache within Brindlestar, one that resonated within her bones and belly. Perhaps it was the unyielding guilt, which stung with the heat of scorching embers, that resided alongside the memories of Thornleap, Rockjaw, and Darkpaw. Perhaps it was nothing more than a faulty reaction of flesh, but who would know? These days were strange, the nights even more so. Quashing whatever stubborn remnants of unease remained, the pale-furred molly redirected her attention to the younger molly who stood before her. "Blossompaw, do you promise to uphold the Warrior Code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

"I do"Blossompaw mewed clearly looking up at Brindlestar

Swiftstep had been watching the ceremony of one of his apprentices. Blossompaw had come so far, since the day he and his patrol had found her in the territory, lost and shaken. She just nearly escaped death, unlike her parents. The deputy had decided to take her under his wing and after moons of training plus some bonding time, she was earning her warrior name today. The brown tom couldn't be prouder.

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I shall grant you your Warrior name." Casting her sharp gaze back out towards the darkening sky, which bled with the richest colors that many saw during this lifetime, the glimmers of starlight seemed to look down upon the proceedings in response. Hopefully their ancestors were listening to the proceedings of such a proud moment, they had been absent enough as of late- it was the least they could do in honor of such sacred traditions. "Blossompaw, from this moment on, you will be known as Blossompetal. StarClan honors your loyal and compassionate nature, and we welcome you as a full Warrior of WindClan." Feathered tail brushing softly against the well-worn stone she stood upon, Brindlestar was quick to abandon her position atop the Tallrock and instead join the mingling celebration that bunched together around the newly-named Blossompetal
