Patrol for Brackenpaw (closed)

Padding into the apprentice sleeping area, Smokepelt found his apprentice's pelt among the other sleeping mounds and prodded the tom's side. "Wake up," he mewed, stoic as ever, and exited the sleeping cats. Sitting over by the entrance, the tall grey and white tom waited for Brackenpaw to join him so they could start their morning patrol.

Brackenpaw jumped in response to his new mentor's prodding. "Okay!" he mewed excitedly before realizing that the other apprentices were still sleeping. He peered around nervously, hoping he didn't accidentally wake anyone with his decently loud mew. "Okay.." He rasped with a much softer tone. He padded to the exit, being careful not to step on any tails, and joined the gray and white tom.

Giving his pelt a shake when his apprentice joined him, Smokepelt made his way towards the camp entrance. "Let's go," the tall warrior mewed blandly and with that, trotted through the camp entrance and out of camp. "We're going to the Thunderpath first," he added, not looking behind him when he spoke, seeing as though it was most likely that Brackenpaw wasn't far behind.

Brackenpaw nodded in response, a little taken aback by how unenthusiastic his mentor was. That's okay! Just more reason to be the best apprentice I can be to impress my mentor! He trotted behind his mentor, having to speed up a bit so he could keep up with the gray tom's long strides. "Wow! I've never been to the Thunderpath before." He mewed, barely able to contain his excitement.

"It's very dangerous and many cats have died on it, so be careful," he warned Brackenpaw. Turning to their next destination, the Gorge, the warrior tilted his head away from the Thunderpath. "Let's keep moving before times gets away from us," he mewed bluntly and began heading towards the next place.

Leading the apprentice to their next stop, they soon reached the next dangerous place. Stopping a couple foxlengths away from the edge of the risky gorge, he looked up and down the raging river as to look out for any passing RiverClan patrols. "This is the gorge," Smokepelt began. "Don't get too close the edge or else you might fall in," he added.

Brackenpaw's eyes widened, he nodded and then hurriedly scurried to keep up with his mentor. As they continued, the young apprentice felt more and more nervous and he made sure to only keep a few taillengths behind the gray warrior at all times. Brackenpaw inclined his nose forward. "Is that what Riverclan warriors smell like? Yuck!"

"Yes, he mewed, agreeing with the apprentice. They did smell weird, the weirdest of all the clans, in his opinion. "That's all there is to show you about borders. Make sure that when you patrol them you mark where you went and keep a look out for any intruding clan cats," the grey and white tom added and turned back in the direction of camp. "Let's head back," Smokepelt said blankly and began making his way back in the direction of camp, knowing Brackenpaw would follow.

Brackenpaw shook his head in disgust. "Got it!" He mewed and made a mental note to remember to mark the border lines and look for smelly Riverclan cats. "So, what are we doing tomorrow?" He asked, his pale green eyes sparkling with curiosity.

"Most likely hunting," Smokepelt mewed simply as the two of them made their way back to camp. While Leafbare was just around the corner, the prey seemed to still be plentiful, which was good for the clans of course.

"That's great! I want to be the best hunter in Windclan!" Brackenpaw exclaimed. Although his mentor wasn't the most talkative cat, the brown-furred tom still had a lot of fun on his first day as an apprentice.

IC: Silently praying that Brackenpaw didn't make the same mistakes as he did in his quest to become the best warrior, Smokepelt stayed quiet, leading the apprentice back to camp.
