Icekit's Apprentice Ceremony

Twilight rested on the horizon of the camp. It brought about the red shadows that Marshstorm was used to at this point. He no longer leapt at every shadow, nor saw every red splotch of light as a stain or an omen. Lichenmask may have commanded the moon to get in the way, but so far, no Dark Forest cats had interefered. He couldn't hold back the rush of gratitude for that as he observed the clan below. Where kits played and queens and warriors relaxed in the sheltered areas of the camp.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath High-rock for a clan meeting!" He called, breaking up a nearby playfight with a smile. There was no sense in making the kits wait any longer for their ceremonies. Each one was large enough to take up plenty of room in the dens... and the queens needed space. Especially if any others became pregnant.

Icekit had spent the whole morning ignoring the other kits in the nursery, keeping a cold demeaner over his excitement. He would finally be an apprentice and the desire to prove himself could finally be sated.

He quickly made his way to the front of the crowd when the meeting was called, sitting and staring up with false apathy, although his eyes betrayed his excitement.

As the cats beneath him gathered, Marshstorm paid closer attention to the small shape of Icekit who worked his way to the front of the crowd. The excitement in his eyes brought a smile to Marshstorm's amber gaze as he nodded in acknowledgement.
"Icekit, step forward." He meowed, his white tipped tail flicking with a beckoning gesture for the young tom to step forward.

"Icekit, you have reached the age of six moons. It is now time for you to become an apprentice. From this day on, until you recieve your warrior name, you will be known as Icepaw." He began formorally, his eyes turned to the red pelt of a she-cat who was proving to be a good mentor. "Scarletsong will be your mentor. I hope her kindness and skills pass down to you." He ended before he leapt down to conclude the ceremony.

Icekit- no, Icepaw now, padded forward to meet his new mentor, heart pounding with excitement. He brushed his nose against hers, relishing in the cheering of his clan.
