A Murky Day (closed)

Smokepelt padded along the WindClan border on a solo patrol. The sky above was still dark from whatever the heck was going on, but it didn't bother him. Even the fact that something big was most likely going to happen to didn't make him nervous, which he assumed made him weird, but oh well. Stopping to mark the borders a few times along the way, he soon made it to the Thunderpath, the stench overwhelming and making his nose begin to sting. Standing completely still as a monster roared by, memories of his crippled father came to mind. This was the place where Icestorm been crippled and the reason that he'd passed so early, which he still held a grudge towards StarClan for... Shaking away the horrible thoughts, he walked forward, but stopped once more when the rustling of a nearby brush caught his attention. Snapping his neck towards the sound, Smokepelt lifted his tail and flatted his ears. "Who's there," he hissed, his eyes peeled and alert for any signs of trouble. Hopefully, it was just a clumsy piece of prey.

OOC: Oh darn it! Was I too late? I still don't really know what closed actually means X( But if I'm not too late then here goes nothing....

IC: The kit wasn't sure what had happened or why it was so dark. He didn't really even know what all these weird smells were, or the annoying noises roaring past every few heartbeats. All he knew was that he was cold, hungry, and a little sore from something he couldn't really remember. Oh, and not very happy, either.
So when pawsteps rustled through the grass next to his bush - and it most definitely was his bush - he cracked open gummy eyes to see something huge, dark, and cat-shaped stalking nearby. Startled by the sight, he hurriedly drew himself into a threatening crouch, inadvertently making the bush shake. The sound alerted the big cat, and it hissed something his ears couldn't make sense of.
He hissed back and flashed a tiny paw studded with tiny claws out at its nose. This cat had dared invade his territory!

OOC (again): He's pretty young, just old enough to have opened his eyes, but not enough to make much sense of what's going on. And he's not using any battle moves or anything, he's just batting at Smoke's nose (I really wish kits weren't useless).

OOC: closed just means that this topic is meant for just you and me, so that no one else randomly posts in it, not that it's finished :)

IC: Peering through the bush, Smokepelt was just able to see the silhouette of what looked to be a kit, who by the looks of it wasn't very happy about his presence. "Hey, I'm not hear to hurt you," the low voiced tom spoke softly and sat down. The kit was clearly scared, so best make him feel a bit more safe, or at least try to. "Come here little one," he beckoned, his tail waving back and forth in a smooth motion.

OOC: Whew! Thanks for the tip.

IC: The kit watched suspiciously as the big cat sat down and said something. He didn't look too threatening, and he didn't seem to want to eat any kits, but the young tom still arched his back as much as he could, trying to look threatening. For some reason, the other cat looked like it wanted him to come out of his bush. The kit stepped forward enough for the cat to see him and halted, refusing to go further.

Staying where he was, Smokepelt watched as the kit cautiously stepped forward and stopped, clearly still un-trusting of his presence. Inching his front legs forward, the large tom laid down on the ground, hoping that being somewhat closer to the kit's size would boost its confidence. "Come here little one," the older warrior mewed softly. It'd been a while since he'd really interacted with kits, so using such a soft and calming voice felt odd.

The kit watched in confusion as the tom lay down, looking pretty relaxed and unthreatening. Still he hesitated, unwilling to leave his bush for the strange cat. His ears finally seemed to make a little sense of what the tom was saying, and he bristled. Little? Finally, he inched forwards some more, coming within a whisker of the tom's paws. How close did the tom want him to go, anyway? Right into its mouth?

Letting out a sigh, Smokepelt rested his head on his front paws and his orange gaze met the kit's. Not saying a word, he laid as still as a statue. Never in his life had he met a kit at such an age that was so cautious and part of him felt silly for laying down, staying into a bush, but he knew that it would've been wrong to simply leave the kit alone, so he had to at least try and gain its trust in order to bring it back to camp.

The kit stared at the tom as he laid his head down on his paws, and blinked. He was starting to feel cold again - no, not cold, freezing. A dozen small bruises and cuts throbbed in time to his small shivers, and his throat felt like it had never had any kind of liquid in it. His stomach would have rumbled too, if it'd had anything in it to make a noise with.
He blinked again. What did this tom want? He reached a tiny paw out and jabbed its huge one, unable to form a sentence the big cat would be able to understand, but would probably have been along the lines of: "Give me food or leave me in my bush!"

OOC: Sorry Murk, you can't survive on adrenaline forever.

IC: Staying where he was, Smokepelt watched as the kit poked his paw with its own. Not moving, he want the little tom to know he wasn't going to strike back or do anything harmful towards him.

The kit's legs wobbled beneath him, darkness flickering at the edges of his vision. The tom was still staring, but the kit didn't really care anymore, the world was fading away, getting sucked down a black hole...
Without a sound, he collapsed.

OOC: That was little abrupt, but I don't really know what else to do.

One moment, the kit was staring up at him with wide eyes and the next, it was laying on the ground. Surprised by what had happened, Smokepelt jumped up and leaned forward, nudging the kit with his nose. It must have been exhausted to pass out so fast... Gently grabbing the kit's scruff, the warrior made his way back to camp with the kit dangling from his jaws. How he was going to explain this to Brindlestar, only StarClan knew.
