Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star (closed)

Moping along the border of the territory, Mudfoot's tail drug along the marshy earth and his head hung on his shoulders. The sky about was still dark and at this point, no one really knew what time of day it was, but then again, it didn't matter, nothing mattered.

While he didn't know how long it'd been, he assumed that it was either one or two sunrises since Littlestar, had been killed. His beloved mate and leader had been brutally killed by the RiverClan cat known as Lichenmask, who was also apparently to blame for the darkness and constant sense of paranoia among his clanmates. In all honesty, he couldn't have had a care in the world about whatever else was going on or going to happen to the clans, all he cared about was Littlestar. Some might say he was selfish in thinking such a way, but did he care? No. The two of them had been together for so long, had gone through so much... to have her just ripped away from him so fast and in such a manor had ultimately crushed him to the point where he would do anything to be by her side again...

After walking for who knows how far, Mudfoot's slow pawsteps came to a halt at a random point along the dark, horrid smelling path. Standing still, the russet pelted tom listened to the stifling air. No birds sang, no frogs croaked, no crickets chirped, there was only silence. Maybe it was because of the sun having vanished, but whatever the reason, he didn't care. And of course, in doing this, he was also leaving Daisyflame, his son, but he was confident in his kin's ability to live on and protect his clan and wasn't worried in the slightest.

Placing a paw onto the rugged black surface, a shiver was sent up the large tom's spine. Taking another step, he continued to walk until he reached the center of the path. Swiveling his ears, the sound of an approaching monster caught his attention and a wave of relief washed over him. He'd watched cats get struck down by monsters and if they were hit in the right spot, it was a quick and painless death, which is what he practically yearned for now. The monster's roar became louder and louder, until it's bright lights were into view, illuminating the once pitch black forest around it. Approaching at a rapid pace, Mudfoot lifted his head and closed his eyes. Any time now, there would be no more pain, no more suffering, and he'd be reunited with Littlestar.With the lights growing brighter and the earth quaking beneath his paws, Mudfoot let out a sigh, ready for what was to soon come.

'If I could've reached up and held a star for every time you made me smile, the entire sky would've been in my paws,' he thought to himself, tears welling in his eyes as he thought of his Littlestar once more, his fate closed in on him by every passing second. Opening his eyes, he stared into the blinding eyes of death and within a split second, it was all over.

In his world, his mate, friend, and leader, Littlestar, was the brightest of all the stars in the sky, where ever they had disappeared to, and from now on, he would always be by her side, twinkling in the sky from above and keeping watch over their loved ones.
