Lilacpaws 1st Hunting lesson

Midnightpelt sat just outside the entrance of camp, waiting for Lilacpaw to show for her first hunting patrol.

Lilacpaw padded over a small smile on her face. She waved her tail back and forth from excitement and sat down next to Midnightpelt.

"Hello Lilacpaw." Midnightpelt said, "Are you ready for your first hunting patrol?"

You betcha' Lilacpaw said waiting for them to start.

"Then come with me." she said, getting up and padding into the forest.

Lilacpaw followed her, sprint to keep up with her long stride. Lilacpaw was very tiny compared to the other cats, but she was fast enough to keep up

Midnightpelt stopped when they came to a small tree. "Now," she said, "Show me your best hunting stance, so I know what we have to work with."

LilacPaw crouched down, her stance was perfect. Lilacpaw remebered all the times she was practicing her stance, it finally payed off! She looked up at MidnightPelt waiting for the next thing to do.

"Very good." Midnightpelt said. "But you must stop swishing your tail."

Lilacpaw hadn't noticed her tail and quickly stopped it, but left it sutck straight in the air.

Midnightpet let out a purr. "Exallent." she said. "Now, focas on the sounds and smels around you. What do you hear and smell?"

Lilacpaw opened her mouth slightly, taking in the taste of a mouse, snake, and a couple of lizards.
"I smell a mouse, a snake, and some lizards! Yet I hear the snake slithering closer to the mouse, I think it's hungry!"
She mewed quietly and sweetly.

"Then we don't go towards the mouse and snake." Midnightpelt said. "Try to track down the lizards."

Lilacpaw opened her mouth slightly the scent leading back to her prey.
"This way!"
The she-cat mewed walkign toward the lizards. When they were a 10 feet away, Lilacpaw looked at Midnightpelt for her next move.

"Try and catch one." Midnightpelt said.
