Moonpaw's Hunting Lesson X3

jaybird walked over to the medicine cat's den. "Moonpaw. Would you like me to teach you how to hunt?" he asked.

Moonpaw turned to face Jaybired. "Oh, of course!"

Jaybird smiled. "Perfect,follow me." he flicked his tail and trotted into the pine trees.

Moonpaw twitched with excitement, and followed.

Jaybird led Moonpaw to where the lizards flourished. Pine trees crowded the area. Jaybird flicked his tail to stop. "Now. The way we hunt is very simple,but nearly impossible for the other clans." he meowed. "We stay down wind and circle the prey in complete and utter darkness. When the time is right though,we pounce,full force. It is a nightmare for mice,come true."

"Okay, so.... Can I give it a try?" Moonpaw asked.

"Yes." Jaybird answered,flicking his tail to a lizard. "Remember to keep close to the ground."

Moonpaw, under a tree, looked at a lizard with large, green eyes. He pounced, but the lizard heard him, and bolted out of there.

Jaybird sighed and walked over to Moonpaw. "You were too far from the lizard. Try to pounce a bit closer." he meowed.

Moonpaw's tail twitched a bit, unconfident. "Okay, Jaybird."

Moonpaw quietly stepped under a pine tree, and noticed a toad just sitting there. Moonpaw crouched, and pounced, but at the same time he did, the toad jumped, and sat in front of his face. Moonpaw clawed it's back, and put it in his mouth.

Jaybird purred. "Better. But it still wasn't fast enough. Good thing that was an old one." he sighed.

"Old, deaf, and not very appetizing," Moonpaw spat the dead toad on the ground.

Jaybird sighed. "Don't be so hard on yourself,nor the toad." he then flicked his tail to a mouse. "They are rarely around here. Catch it,and the clan will be impressed."

Moonpaw frowned, but crouched near the mouse, who was nibbling on a berry. He pounced, and caught it's tail with his claw.

Jaybird hissed. "Now dispatch it." he called.
