Lavenderpaw's Warrior Ceremony

There weren't many reasons to be happy these past nights. Shade's constant threat... Cinderfall, his son was gravely maimed... the mate of Stormstrike, his second-born, was dead and Sunfish left him with two kits to take care of... and what about his own kits? Goldeneye, the medicine cat, was expecting his kits... kits that would not be born in the clan and that would be seen by the others as rogues.

However, despite all that, the life in Riverclan kept going and finally, an apprentice was ready to be a warrior. It had been a while since the last ceremony he made but the leader always rejoiced a little when a young apprentice was ready to do the next step in their clan life. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting!" He called, his tail held up to call the attention of his fellow clanmates.

Lavenderpaw got up from her laying position near the apprentice's den and took a spot close to the back of gathering cats. The she-cat wondered what this could be about. It couldn't be bad news though. Jaystar seemed happier.

"Lavenderpaw, Lakewhisper has confirmed that you are ready to undertake your warrior ceremony. If you believe this to be true, step forward now for it to begin." The tom purred when his eyes glanced at the smaller she-cat. It was such a relief to be the one to give her her warrior name after so many moons training. Riverclan had more than enough apprentices to handle. They needed more young warriors soon.

The apprentice was shocked and excited for what was about to begin. The she-cat stepped forward with confidence. This was her moment to shine!

The tom stood up straighter and he looked at the apprentice with a glance full of determination and confidence. He lifted his tail looked briefly at the rest of his clanmates before fixing his eyes on the apprentice again. "I, Jaystar, leader of Riverclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn, Lavenderpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

"I do!" the she-cat said enthusiastically. She couldn't be more happy.

Then, by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. From this day forth, you will be known to all as Lavenderlily. Congratulations. But, after you celebrate with your family and friends remember that, as tradition says, you will hold a silent vigil tonight while the rest of your clanmates sleep. We trust in you." He purred with a happy smile as he dismissed the meeting with a lash of his tail. He climbed off the branch and nodded at the newly appointed warrior with a solemn smile. It was good to see his clan growing this much...
