Swankit's Apprentice Ceremony

Mistyrain reached the top of the Tallbranch, taking a moment to enjoy the view of the SkyClan camp before she initiated the ceremony. "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the Tallbranch for a Clan meeting!" Calling the Clan together for apprentice ceremonies was becoming more and more routine, and she had become accustomed to the idea that she was, in fact, the Clan deputy. She scanned the cats who were streaming into the center of camp, watching for the kit who would become an apprentice today.

Slowly, Swankit padded out of the nursery, her head low and tail dragging behind her. So far, almost, if not all of her siblings, had become apprentices and left her behind in the Nursery, all by herself. She would be lying if she said she wasn't lonely, but she tried her best to ignore it. It wasn't that big of a deal, right? The gray and white kitten sat in the back, paying half attention to the ceremony.

Mistyrain spotted the kit, sitting alone and looking rather downtrodden. "Swankit, please step forward. You have reached the age of 6 moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed." The kit was the last of her litter to be apprenticed, the others' ceremonies having been held a few sunrises before.  "From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Swanpaw. I will be your mentor, and I will do my best to pass on to you everything that I know."

She leaped down from the Tallbranch, approaching her new apprentice. She barely had to bend down to brush her nose to Swanpaw's. "You're going to be a great apprentice, Swanpaw," she mewed softly to the she-cat. "Training will start tomorrow, okay?"

Her head snapped up when Mistyrain called her forward. Quickly, she stood up and scampered to the front, looking up at the she-cat with wide blue eyes. She listened intently as she announced her mentor; herself. Swanpaw couldn't believe it. First, her father was the Skyclan leader. And now, her mentor was the Skyclan deputy. She was practically beaming with excitement now.

As the gray and white she-cat leaped down to meet her, she jumped in surprise. Her vision was still extremely bad, and seemed to be getting worse everyday. She blinked a few times, just barely able to make out the figure of her mentor. "I..I won't let let you down, Mistyrain!" She exclaimed, determination shining in her foggy eyes.
