| She had just emerged from her den, not pausing for a single moment to step into Jaystars den, hardly waiting for a welcoming greeting. Her fur bristled as she looked down at the handsome tom, her gaze hard. "Jaystar, I had a vision from Starclan. I am going to every clan to deliver their warning and what I had seen in my vision, I will not taking any warriors as an escort because I will not risk being turned around because of them." Goldeneye meowed, her voice hard as her body trembled. She didn't wait for him to argue before launching into what she had learned and seen, "I met a white Starclan cat on Starclans fields, and as she spoke I was whisked away to Four-trees. The whole clearing was hard to see, bathed in red shadows but it was difficult to distinguish if it was actually blood I was seeing. I couldn't what cat was and the scent of blood was too thick for me to smell if they were just Riverclan or other clans... but." Goldeneye stammered.
"But there was a cat in the clearing with amber eyes so fierce, and... he was looking at us like he could see us." Goldeneye sputtered, tripping over her words almost. "I need to warn them, if this vision is true then a battle must be inevitable but if I can prevent it..." The medicine cat wasn't sure if she could truly prevent it from happening, but she had to try. "We must try to keep the peace amongst our kin, at whatever cost." She ordered before realizing with a jolt that she had not carried on the she-cats words, "She said 'there will be one among you, one who holds the power of the stars. But this power is corrupted by a darkness from our own hearts. Beware the dawn of the midnight sun, for it will bring about the destruction of all we know. The darkness that it shall birth will turn kin against kin, Clanmate against Clanmate, and none shall be safe. Look right before you and you shall see what you must." Goldeneye looked to the den wall, her paws fidgeting.
"I think... I think I might know who this cat is. I-I'm not sure though, but we need to keep an eye on him." Goldeneye meowed, uncertainty surfacing once more as she looked into her... lovers, eyes. "I must go with haste." She warned but stayed for his response. |

| The tom lifted his head from his nest when he heard the approach of a cat. At first, he perked his ears and prepared himself for anything but when he scented the characteristic smell of the she-cat, he relaxed and a small spark of happiness appeared inside him. However, the joy of being with her disappeared when he noticed her serious, nervous and concerned expression. And then... she said it.
A vision...
Jaystar listened to her words carefully and as she continued, he couldn't stop having the feeling that something bad was going to happen... something as bad as the time the Dark Forest attacked the four clans. He feared that... but it was not because of his life. It was a fear for his clan... for his friends and the ones he loved. As the leader, it was his duty to look after them and defend them when something threatened their lives... but what would happen if he failed? Even if he felt surer of himself after Poplarstrpe gave him the confidence to understand that he was the leader of a clan for a good reason, the tom always had in mind the possibility of losing... of failing his clanmates. He simply couldn't do that.
The large tom frowned when Goldeneye expressed her intentions and the tom stood up, giving her a hard glance. After what had happened to her thanks to Windclan... he doubted she would be safe there. The leader wasn't going to risk her life. Not only because she was the only medicine cat... but because he cherished her. Seeing her hurt or dead... was something he couldn't deal with. But Goldeneye didn't let him argue with her and she continued talking.
A large war and bloodshed were coming toward them. And that was not the worst part. It was that the apparent cause of it was a cat from his own clan. Jaystar clenched his teeth and glanced at the exit of his den, behind Goldeneye, with worried eyes. His paws trembled slightly at the thought of a possible traitor among his kind... a cat who would bring death and destruction and it seemed that not only for Riverclan... but for all the clans in the forest.
The leader fixed his piercing green eyes on the medicine cat once more, curious about the suspected one. There was a lot to do and so little time. He shook his head and tried to clear his mind, finding the right words to say what it was needed. "I understand that as the medicine cat, is your duty to not only warn me but all the other clans because of the chance of them being involved... I... respect that and I know, deep inside, that is the right thing to do. However, I won't grant you your wish to go alone... Especially not in Windclan's lands. I-I'm sorry... but that's out of a discussion. You will go with me or with an experienced warrior in battle, like Silverfang. You choose." Even if at first he sounded soft and understanding, Jaystar hardened his expression slightly saying those last words but behind that, it was obvious that there was a concern for her safety.
He glanced away, with thoughtful eyes. And... he realized something. From the corner of his sight, he glanced at the she-cat's eyes. "That's not the only thing... before you tell me who do you suspects is the cat from your vision, I have to ask you one thing. When you tell them about this... don't mention that this cat is among our clan." The tom said those seriously and half guilty for not telling all the truth to the rest of the leaders. "If they know, the other clan leaders will see each of our clanmates as possible dangers to their own clan. I won't take the risk of seeing our warriors and apprentices being badly hurt or even... killed in skirmishes because of this. So, please, don't tell them that." The tom finally turned his whole head back to her, his face asking her for comprehension. |

| Goldeneye's lip curled at the tom as he told her she was to go along with an escort, but she did not resist though her tail bushed and lashed with her anger. Goldeneye nodded stiffly as she listened him continue to speak, her eyes hardening. "Do you think I'm stupid? Of course, I'm not going to tell them about them being from our clan." Goldeneye hissed, but some of Jaystars words crossed her mind. Huffing the she-cat turned to look at him, "I'm not telling any cat who it might be just yet, not even you. It's safer that way because I can't be wrong about this. That's final." Goldeneye snapped, though a bit of smugness peaked past her steely gaze.
"I'll be picking up Silverfang on my way out, you can't leave Riverclan as often as you did as deputy, Jaystar." Goldeneye meowed before dipping out of his den, almost immediately regretting her anger towards him, but she had just been given the prophecy and it was already too much for the young medicine cat. Goldeneye turned on her paws and strode towards the warrior's den, wasting no time in seeking the large she-cats scarred form. Stepping carefully over her clan-mates she pressed her paw against the she-cats shoulder, "Silverfang, at Jaystars request you're to escort me to each and every clan's camp. I have an important message that cannot go unheard." Goldeneye meowed before turning on her paws to wait outside of the warriors' den.
Surely it was best to keep it a secret? She could keep an eye on the tom so much better, she could perhaps even try to get close to him. If she could turn the tides by befriending the tom and forging the way he thought as he grew then she could stop this before it had time to even fruit. Once Silverfang had appeared from the den she meowed, "Have something to eat before we leave, we'll very well be out until sunset." Goldeneye meowed before turning away again, the prophecy still ringing strong in her head. |

| Jaystar flinched at the reaction of the she-cat and he looked at her perplexed and... hurt. He didn't mean to say that she was stupid... he only wanted to make sure everything would be solved in the best way possible for Riverclan. The leader bit his tongue frustrated and, even if his ears were lowered like he was scared, he actually was slightly sad and angry for her reaction. Of course, he acted harsher than his usual self but it was necessary now that he was the leader of a large clan like Riverclan. He watched her go and once she disappeared from his den, he turned his body, lashing his tail violently because of the frustration of the situation overwhelming him. The tom hated staying still while others risk their lives but what he hated the most was to know that Goldeneye might be angry at him. Jaystar truly wanted to her to understand him... understand why he said all of that. "Why can't you see I'm trying my best to protect you...?" He muttered to himself as he laid down in his nest once again, resting his head on his paws. *** On the other side, the experienced warrior opened her eyes at the call of the she-cat. Silverfang raised her head and listened to her. She did not hesitate or asl anything. In just a few seconds, she was standing up, ready to go. When she reached her side and the medicine cat told her to eat something, the warrior just shook her head. "There's no need for that. I ate something before going to sleep. I'm more than ready to travel, Goldeneye. Where do you want to start?" She inquired with slightly narrowed odd eyes. Silverfang didn't know the reasons for this uncommon request from the leader but she could already guess that it was probably because of a vision of Starclan. Why would Jaystar risk their only medicine cat if it was not for that? He would be a mouse-brain if he did that. |
