Acornpaw's Moonstone Journey

Mintwhisker padded out of her den, two bundles of herbs in her jaws. The taupe tabby she-cat trotted towards the apprentice den, remembering the time she spent there with a pang. "Acornpaw," She mewed, dropping the herbs by her feet and peering into the dark den, "It's time to go." Mintwhisker withdrew from the den and ate her bundle of herbs with a grimace. She'd want them later, she knew, but she'd rather forgo the bitter taste.

Acornpaw walked out of the apprentice den, wondering about her mother and her sudden death.  Why Mother?  Why her? she thought as she ate the traveling herbs.  One good thing about the herbs' taste, they kept Acornpaw's thoughts out of her mother's death.  Sucking up a deep breath, Acornpaw knew what to do.  "I'm ready to go, Mintwhisker," her voice rang out clearly, hiding the pain in her heart.

Mintwhisker nodded, leading the way out of camp and through Windclan territory. The journey went quickly, and it seemed only moments later the two were trotting up the slope to Mothermouth, panting slightly. It was nearly dusk. Mintwhisker flicked her tail nervously. "Follow me," She instructed. "Use your whiskers to guide yourself through the tunnels. Trust me, it's not as far as you think it is." With an encouraging smile, Mintwhisker lead the way through the dark tunnels, keeping her tail stretched behind her just in case Acornpaw needed any extra assistance.
Within a few minutes, the pair emerged into the brilliantly-lit cavern that held the Moonstone. "Press your nose to the stone." Mintwhisker mewed softly. "You'll fall asleep soon after; don't worry, and don't fight it. You'll be walking among our ancestors in a moment."

When Acornpaw reached the Mothermouth, she said, "Okay."  Soon, she fell unconscious.

Pebblestorm wondered why StarClan chose her to give this young SkyClan cat advice.  Certainly, her mother would be the better choice, she thought.  However, she might just be able to give advice to her, somehow.  "Hello, Acornpaw.  I'm Pebblestorm," she said.  

Acornpaw just wanted her mother back.  "Do you know where my mother is?" Acornpaw asked Pebblestorm.  

Pebblestorm didn't know the answer for that question.  She knew that Blossomheart was going to be dead; just not when.  "Your mother may not be dead soon, but I know this.  There won't be any chance of her making it alive."Oh dear, that was horrible, she immediately thought.  "But Acornpaw, you need to live life to the fullest.  Don't take anything for granted, because if you do, that's when you get hurt the most."  Pebblestorm knew this to heart.  After her father died from the RiverClan invasion, she was never the same.  But she decided not to take anything for granted, so when her sister died, she was sad, but she knew that it would happen, so the pain was relieved just a little.  

”But, my mother is dead...” Acornpaw replied.

”You have to be strong, Acornpaw,” was the only response.

”Can I see my mother again?” Acornpaw said. Then, Acornpaw woke up from her dream with StarClan.

”I’m ready to go back, Mintwhisker.” Acornpaw said. I have to be strong. For my mother.
