A morning patrol (closed)

Tinylegs padded out of the warrior's den and gave a yawn as he made his way to the center of camp, waiting for more cats to wake up. It was his job to help with patrols and after everything that had been going on, a patrol was a good distracter from in camp life, which had been a bit down in the dumps lately. Sitting down, the small cat waited for any early birds of the clan to wake up and in the meantime he groomed his mangled white coat.

Mistypaw bounded out of the apprentice den, heading towards Tinylegs. She slowed to a stop and stood beside him, bouncing on her paws. "Tinylegs! Can I go on the dawn patrol with you today?" she asked enthusiastically. "I'm going to catch the most prey of any apprentice you've ever hunted with!" she exclaimed, before he had time to reply. She was already envisioning a perfect first catch, something impressive that would show the senior warrior her skills.

She shook her head, coming back from her fantasy. The tiny she-cat was bursting with energy, already fully awake and ready to go. "Are we waiting for anyone else, or is it just us today?" she asked cheerfully. "Where are we going to hunt?"

Hearing approaching pawsteps, Tinylegs turned around to see Mistypaw, one of SkyClan's apprentices. Standing up, the small warrior gave his pelt a shake and a chuckle emitted from deep within his throat at her comments about hunting. "Yes, you can come with me," he began and turned himself so that he was facing the camp entrance. "And no, we can head out just us. We'll be hunting along the ThunderClan border," Tinylegs finished and started to exit the camp.

After a few moments of walking through the lightly wooded forest at steady pace, the short deputy turned to look up at Mistypaw, a cheery smile on his muzzle, per usual. "So, how's your training going?" he asked in hopes of starting some conversation.

"Okay!" Mistypaw bounded after the small warrior. Even her own tiny size nearly matched the height of SkyClan's deputy. She bounced along after him, leaping over every fallen branch in her path instead of going around. "My training is alright!" she paused for effect, making a dramatic face. "I know how to hunt really well, but I haven't gotten to learn any of the fun battle stuff yet! I want to learn all those cool twisty moves that the older apprentices get to do!" she huffed lightly. "My mentor says I'll learn them when I've mastered all the basics. Boring!" She continued to skip along, without missing a beat.

Suddenly, the tiny she-cat froze. "Look," she breathed. A rabbit sat quietly on the forest floor, back turned to them. Mistypaw dropped low into a hunting crouch, eyes trained on the rabbit's furry pelt. But before she had a chance to stalk any closer to her prey, its ears pricked and it bounded off. The apprentice gave chase, not willing to lose her prey so easily. "Come back here, you mouse-brain!" she shouted, flicking her ear in annoyance. She had disappeared into the trees for only a moment when she came dashing back out at full speed, a fox crashing through the undergrowth behind her. "Tinylegs, help!" she cried, looking over her shoulder for a split second at the filthy jaws that were hot on her tail.

Listening to the apprentice a she spoke, Tinylegs let out a chuckle of amusement. "That's good to hear," the small deputy mewed, but before he was able to say anything else, the she-cat had dashed off after a rabbit. Most apprentices tended to run off after prey, seeing as though they wanted to show their hunting skills to their mentors, so Tinylegs didn't think much of it. That is, until her fear stricken yowl burst through the once silent forest.

Snapping his body towards where her voice had come from, he raced through some brush and skidded to a halt when he spotted a fox threatening the apprentice's life. "Are you alright?" he yowled, heart pounding. While he'd come face to face with numerous foxes before, dealing with the viscous canines would always send a shiver up his spine.

OOC: I believe he does have dep stats, but only while he holds this rank of course. Also, I didn't post him fighting the fox 'cause I'm pri sure since you summoned it, you gotta rp it xD

Mistypaw turned on the fox as soon as Tinylegs was in sight, snarling fiercely as she took a battle stance. Using her small size to her advantage, she dashed straight towards the fox, ducking underneath it to rake its belly with her claws. She drew back, hissing, as the predator's blood sprayed across the ground. She retreated, regaining her balance, to make room for the deputy to attack.

The fox recovered swiftly, its eyes focusing on Tinylegs. It swiped at the small tom, catching his pelt. It backed up a little bit, only to prepare itself for the next attack.

Mistypaw used Belly Rake on the Fox, dealing 7 damage and costing 10 stamina.
Fox used Thrash on Tinylegs, dealing 20 damage and costing 10 stamina.

Glad to see his apprentice was using the battle moves he'd taught her, Tinylegs was caught off guard when the fox's claws hit his pelt. Letting out a shrill yowl, the small deputy stumbled backwards. It hadn't hit him too hard, but it was enough to hurt.

Regaining his bearings, he let out a hiss as he prepared himself, and took his chance before the fox was able to react. Leaping forward with outstretched paws, he bowled the canine over.

Tinylegs used Jumping Strike, causing 15 damage and costing 20 stamina.

While the fox was still recovering from Tinylegs' attack, Mistypaw took advantage of the time the fox needed to regain its balance. She dashed towards the fox's tail, biting down hard and then pulling with as much force as she could muster. The fox yelped in surprise and stumbled again, tail lashing wildly. The small apprentice backed out of range of the fox's wild range, leaving the way open for Tinylegs to attack again.

Mistypaw used Tail Yank on the Fox, dealing 2 damage and costing 10 stamina. The Fox is stunned for 1 turn.

Mistypaw dashed towards the fox, taking advantage of her small size to roll underneath it. She scrabbled at its belly with her unsheathed claws, tiny drops of blood splattering the ground around her. She scrambled away from the fox in time to evade the blows from its huge claws skipping back to join Tinylegs.

The fox, thoroughly subdued and rather annoyed with these tiny cats, turned away into the forest. The stupid animals seemed to want nothing better than to ruin his day and avoid becoming his dinner. What was the fun in that? He shrugged, still frustrated, and trotted away to find a quiet place to lick his wounds.

Mistypaw used Belly Rake, dealing 7 damage and lowering the fox's HP below halfway.

"Good job," Tinylegs huffed and limped over to his apprentice. Today, they successfully fended off yet another fox. "How about we head back to camp now," he mewed with a smile.
