Blizzardpaw's Warrior Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting!" The leader yowled. With Newleaf here, the clan was growing quite a lot. It seemed like every day more apprentices were ready to become warriors. The tom looked around for the white fur of the tom that was going to have a new name today. He knew he was one of the only friends of his beloved daughter, Hailsong, and he was grateful to him for that.

The quiet tom walked out of the apprentice's den. He sat at the back of the crowd, soft sky blue eyes staring at Hailsong. He liked her...no loved her so much. He just didn't know how to express his feelings for her. He was somewhat jealous when Torrentstorm had started to bond with his crush. The tom stepped in in an attempt to break up the closeness. He didn't mind her having friends but he saw how the other tom looked at her. That was unacceptable.

"Blizzardpaw, Heronflight has confirmed that you are ready to undertake your warrior ceremony. If you believe this to be true, step forward now for it to begin." He mewed as he landed his gaze on the long-furred tom, the apprentice of his former apprentice. If Heronflight had learned something about the loyalty he lacked when he was younger, Jaystar truly hoped that his apprentice would have learned that.

Blizzardpaw felt his breath get caught in his throat. He got up and walked forward. The handsome tom had a look of surprise on his face. All previous thoughts were gone from his head. Today was the day he'd join his crush in warriorhood. He stood waiting for the leader to continue.

Heronflight was watching his apprentice, Blizzardpaw's ceremony.  The gray tabby tom hoped for the best.

The leader kept a solemn and serious expression when he opened his mouth to speak again. With a flick of his tail, he ordered everyone in the clearing to stay quiet. After all, this was the moment only between he, as the leader, and Blizzardpaw, as the soon-to-be warrior. "I, Jaystar, leader of Riverclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn, Blizzardpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

Blizzardpaw stood tall as he spoke, "I do." This was all happening so fast yet, he was ready!

With a satisfied nod, the tom proceeded with the ceremony with a wide smile. "Then, by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. From this day forth, you will be known to all as Blizzardshell. RiverClan honours your loyalty and strength. As tradition says, you will hold a silent vigil tonight as the rest of your clanmates sleep. But before that, we can celebrate your new name and rank. Congratulations, young one." He lashed his tail to announce the ceremony was over but he joined the greetings for the new warriors for a few moments before he had to return to his usual duties.


Hailsong purred delighted and she trotted to her friend with a smile. The she-cat nudged him friendly with one paw and looked at his blue eyes, happily. "I'm so happy for you, Blizzardshell. Your new name suits you well." She mewed glancing away sheepishly. The tom had grown up a lot since they were kits. He was more handsome and bigger now. The small she-cat couldn't help to feel her heartbeat rising when she was with him... but she also felt the same when she was with Torrentstorm...

Blizzardshell nodded, face heating up with embarrassment at the praise. "Thanks." he muttered as he played with his paws. He then began to prepare for his vigil that would take place a bit later.
