Rowantalon's Elder Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath Jaggedrock for a Clan meeting!" Scorchfang yowled loudly for the cats of ShadowClan to hear. It was hard for him to accept the truth that Rowantalon was no longer able to continue his warrior duties. He had been asked by Rowantalon himself to hold his father's elder ceremony, and to be honest he was feeling a bit nervous about the whole thing. He couldn't quite recall ever listening to Littlestar or Magpiewing officially send an older cat to the elders' den, so he didn't have anything much to go by. Hopefully he would be able to do this right anyway.

Rowantalon padded out of the Warrior's den, stretching slowly. Despite his fading hearing, he was glad to know that he could still hear most things- like the call for a clan meeting, for instance. The spotted warrior flicked his tail, sitting beneath the Jaggedrock and looking up at Scorchfang with a small smile.

Scorchfang looked down and offered his father a soft smile in return. He truly wished he could have spent more time with him throughout his life, but perhaps now that he won't be nearly as busy with warrior duties he could do just that. It would be nice to just lay with him and pretend like he was Scorchkit just barely opening his eyes, wandering out of the nursery into the big camp and meeting all his older brothers and sisters.

He let out a soft sigh. He could fantasize more about that later. For now, he had a duty to uphold. He stood straight and tall, his meow echoing throughout the camp as he addressed his Clanmates. "Tonight, we gather to celebrate one of the strongest, bravest, and most beloved cats in the Clan, to honor what he has done for us and to uphold the legacy he will leave behind. Rowantalon, is it your wish to give up the name of a warrior and go to join the elders?"

The tom smile grew, his hazel eyes glimmering in anticipation to the peace and quiet of the Elder's Den. It was time for some long-anticipated rest.
"Yes." The tom mewed, his ears twitching.

Scorchfang nodded respectfully. "Your Clan honors you and all the service you have given to us. I call upon StarClan to give you many moons of rest." He leaped down from Jaggedrock and approached Rowantalon, giving his shoulder an affectionate lick, then murmured in his ear, "Thank you for everything... father."

Rowantalon smiled, his hazel eyes warm as his son approached him. "I'm proud of you, Scorchfang. You will lead Shadowclan well." He rumbled. "Don't forget to visit me every once in a while," He added with a smile, his eyes sparkling.
