The sunlight streaming through the leaves overhead cast dappled shadows upon the she-cat's fluffy ginger pelt. Despite her leisurely gait, Chase's chartreuse-colored eyes held a cautious glimmer that revealed her wariness. So... this was clan territory. She did not share Loaf's obsession with exterminating the clan cats, but she could clearly see the benefits the forest would bring the rogues. Beneath the sharp odor of unfamiliar cats, she could detect other scents. Scents that caused her mouth to water. The forest was alive with prey, especially at this time of the year. It was a very different kind of atmosphere from the city. Especially now that Desolate was gone, Loaf's determination seemed to have doubled. It seemed the Regime was not just another ragtag huddle of rogues, or it would have already fallen apart by now.

A rustle from the tree above her caused her ears to prick up. Drawing to a stop, she directed her gaze upwards. From its fortress in the branches, a blackbird stared down at her, beady black eyes wide. Distracted by the bird, Chase did not immediately notice the approach of another cat.

The small dilute calico she-cat was patrolling alone when she smelled a strange scent that didn't belong to any clan cat or prey. Lowering her tail and crouching, the warrior approached the origin of the smell, finding a rogue who was apparently looking for some prey in Riverclan's land. Hailsong gulped. He was bigger than her, probably stronger but just like the Warrior Code demanded, she had to protect her land from the trespasser.

With her yellow-golden eyes shimmering, the cat leapt out the bush she was hiding and tackled the non-clan with the weight of her body. She jumped back and unsheathed her claws, ready for any attack. "This is Riverclan territory! Step off and leave right now!" She snapped, aggressively and with the fur of her back rising because of the anger and adrenaline.

At the crackle of leaves, Chase whirled around. She turned in time to see the whirlwind of calico fur barreling towards her, but her reaction was too slow to get out of the way in time. The force of the blow sent the fluffy ginger rogue staggering. Slightly winded, a low hiss slipped out from between her jaws. It took a moment for the other cat's words to register in Chase's mind, but when they did, she straightened up. Interest played casually within her gaze as she analyzed the stranger before her. Almost instantly, she realized that the other she-cat must be one of the so-called clan cats that she had heard so much about. Well, here was a great chance. It looked like she had the advantage based purely on size. The possibility of winning wasn't clear, but running away would just leave a bad taste in her mouth.

"I'm afraid you'll have to make me." Her fangs flashed in a savage snarl of unyielding. In the next moment, she shot forward. Her bristling fur made her look almost twice as large as usual. Directing the strength to her back legs, she reared up and slashed savagely at the calico.

Hailsong, slightly scared by how big the other rogue cat looked, stepped back but no in time to avoid her claws. The she-cat yelped in pain but she did not run away. The pain only reminded why she was here. Snarling fiercely, the RiverClanner leapt to the rogue's back and in a storm of claws and fur, she managed to pin her down. "Don't worry... I'll make you to never return back to my territory, rogue scum."

Held to the ground by the weight of the clan cat, Chase thrashed wildly, her feathery tail lashing the ground like a whip. Furious snarls erupted from within her throat when she was unable to shake the calico off. It seemed this clan cat was a lot fatter than she looked. Well, that made sense, considering the abundance of prey in the forest. The clans were much better off than the cats of Twolegplace. If the enemy thought that the ginger rogue was going to just casually lie there and allow herself to be sat on, however, she was badly mistaken.

Even if the she-cat shook and moved under her body, the small warrior managed to sunk her claws even deeper into the flesh and she bit her back just to keep her down the longer she could. Hailsong had to do everything in her paws to chase her off. If she couldn't do such a simple task... how could she call herself a warrior? She wouldn't be worthy.

The pain that lanced through the fluffy rogue was instantly followed by the wet sensation of blood welling up through the broken skin. Adrenaline converted that pain into energy, prompting Chase to struggle even harder. She knew the other she-cat was fighting hard to hold her down. Just a bit more, and she would be free...

Thanks to the struggles of the she-cat, Hailsong couldn't keep up any longer. The warrior jumped away from the other cat, letting her free but she was far from done yet. With a hiss, the she-cat launched herself one more time to battle and she slammed the rogue's forehead with her unsheathed claws. Her white coat was covered in red but she didn't mind it. "Do you want more, rogue?" She snarled, her fur bristling. The RiverClanner knew that Chase would probably attack her now... she had to be ready.

As the weight above her lifted, Chase pulled herself loose. The glint of claws caught her eye, and in the next moment a glancing blow struck her head. Out of reflex, the ginger rogue blinked her eyes shut as soon as the claws. Things looked bad. Her fluffy pelt was completely soaked with blood, and her whole body was screaming in pain just from standing up. Chase did not have to be a genius to know that she would lose this fight. Nevertheless, that was not an excuse for giving up. Rage blazed within her eyes as she glared at the calico. Rather than words, her actions made her reply clear. Droplets of blood scattered all over the ground as she leaped at Hailsong.

Hailsong yelped when the body of the she-cat was over her but thanks to her training, she knew what to do. When her back was on the ground, she slashed the rogue's belly with her hind legs, leaving long wound marks from her chest to her belly. She could slash her throat with one swift claw but she wasn't going to do that. Instead, the warrior pushed her away with her paws and then faced her one more time, her claws covered with her blood. "Leave now if you value your life." She snarled with her green eyes showing an inner fighting fire.

The ground beneath the two she-cats was slick with blood. As Chase backed away from Hailsong, she almost slipped on the red-dyed grass. Without a doubt, she knew that she had lost. Fighting any further would only endanger her life. With a last glare of fury at the calico, the ginger rogue stumbled away. Hailsong could have killed her if she had slit her throat, but that clan cat had spared her. It was mortifying to think about. Nevertheless, there was nothing she could do about it. If there was one thing Chase hated, it was being weak. At least she now had extra motivation to help Loaf extinguish the clans. Just you wait, I'll be back...
