The Joys of Newleaf

The sun shone warmly through the new leaves. Reedclaw left the warrior den and proceeded to stretch and shake his fur out. It was a new day and there were plenty of prey to catch seeing as Newleaf was upon the five clans. Reedclaw has assembled a hunting patrol the night before and sat at the entrance of camp waiting for the three other cats to meet him.

"Good morning, Reedclaw. I'm glad to be going on a patrol with you today," Nutfur mewed, padding up to Reedclaw. She hadn't talked to him since Sweetheart's death, and she wondered if bringing it up would be a horrible idea. Though she was sure he felt it harder than her, seeing as they had been mates, she had been the she-cat's friend and had shared a big secret between them. Her loss had been tragic. But right now, she decided not to dress that topic. No use ruining a great and happy morning with sad memories. Hunting had to be done, after all.

Spotfur and Cinderfall walked up to the patrol forming.

Shadefang flicked his tail irritably as he approached some of the most annoying cats in the Clan, as well as his adopted father.

(OOC: Sorry it’s so short, I’m at work)

He saw that all the cats showed up.  He nodded and stood, "I was thinking Sunningrocks, sound good to everyone?"  The fairly large tom moved off into the territory.  Eventually the group arrived at Sunningrocks.  Reedclaw turned to the group, "Everyone try and catch a piece of prey or two?"  He slinked off into the surrounding area and with his luck he found an unsuspecting frog.  He crouched and waited for a heartbeat before launching himself through the air and landing on the frog. Reedclaw thanked StarClan and buried the frog somewhere where he could come back and retrieve it.

Nutfur padding after Reedclaw, nodding as he led them to Sunningrocks. So many memories lined tis place, but by now she had learned to just ignore them. There was no use on lingering on the past for so long. Spotfur had taught her that. Deciding to catch a fish, she padding over to the edge of the stones, peering into the river. Looking upstream, she was glad to see a gray blur that seemed to be her trout. Smiling, she almost began drooling at the thought of her favorite meal. Quickly estimation the fishes path, she swung her claws right where it was headed. Though it changed paths, she was still able to quickly change her own direction as well, spearing the trout with her claws and snapping it up in the air and towards her jaws. With a a quick bite, she broke its spine and killed it. Definitely not her neatest catch, but food was food. Whispering her thanks to StarClan, she padded back to her patrol with her catch.
