Eaglepaw's Warrior Ceremony

With a great leap Leopardclaw scaled the Highrock, and called out to the clan in a voice that boomed around the ravine; "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highrock for a clan meeting!"  Today, one of Coyotefang's sons was to gain his warrior name; Eaglepaw.  The brown tabby tom looked so much like his late father it sometimes made the deputy have to do a double take, but alas the tom he had vowed to protect was still gone, forever.  Despite that, he was proud to be naming kin of Wolffang as a warrior, and waited patiently for the clan to emerge.

The tabby tom strode towards the front of the gathering group of cats. He knew what was coming and he was more than prepared. Long claws flexed, feeling the earth below. Internally, his mind was still reeling with the information passes onto him at highstones. Two cats had met with him instead of one and Specklefang had revealed to him her innocence. For her, he was ready. Focused om the task she had given him. Silently, Eaglepaw hoped for a suffix honoring her, not his father. But, ultimately it was up to the deputy. The apprentice fixed Leopardclaw with a determined gaze. It was time.

Leopardclaw met Eaglepaw's gaze and nodded, before yowling for silence.  "Eaglepaw, step forward!"  Once the young tom has made his way to the front of the crowd, the golden spotted deputy to a deep breath and began to speak.  "I, Leopardclaw, deputy of ThunderClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice.  He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn.  Eaglepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"  Leopardclaw's eyes glowed with intensity as he looked down at the tom, awaiting his answer.

At his name, the tom paddes closer with his head high. There was no hesitation. For Specklefang. For Thunderclan. For Justice. Eaglepaw's voice rang clear, "I do."

Leopardclaw nodded approvingly at his reply, and a hint of a smile began to curl at the edges of his mouth. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Eaglepaw, from this moment on you will be known as Eaglefang, for the cats who have come before you. StarClan honors your bravery and strength, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ThunderClan." Leaping down from the rock, the large tom rested his chin on the new warrior's head, completing the ceremony.

Wisteriapool quietly watched from a distance as Eaglepaw- er, no, Eaglefang received his warrior name. The mere thought of it made her shudder. The warrior usually enjoyed watching warrior ceremonies. While she highly disliked talking to unapproachable cats and strangers, knowing that ThunderClan was growing stronger and stronger with new warriors made Wisteriapool's heart warm up with pride. This was Eaglefang, though. The large ThunderClanner certainly was... something, but that was obvious. Wisteriapool used to feel comfortable knowing that she could hide away in the warriors' den from Eaglefang's remarks, but now she knew that she couldn't escape them. However, deep down, the she-cat knew that she couldn't let her own personal fears get in the way of a traditional Clan celebration.
"Eaglefang... Eaglefang..." She chanted under her breath in a voice that was so quiet that even she herself had trouble hearing herself.
