A huntin we will go (closed)

Mumblefoot sought out Swiftpaw. After the death of his mentor, the fluffy white tom had barely gotten out, but he was so close to finishing his training. Rippedstar had tasked the tailless warrior with assessing his hunting ability through a quick patrol. Finally finding the other tom, he meowed a bit awkwardly, "Oh, uh, hi Swiftpaw. Up for hunting? Rippedstar wanted us to go out." He felt awkward as he picked around the topic, blatantly leaving out the reasoning for it and any talk of Crowstar.

Swiftpaw was beginning to get lazier and lazier. No one had been around to take him outside the camp walls since Crowstar's death, and he hadn't protested to taking care of the few elders in camp while he awaited a new mentor to be named. But it had never happened. The old apprentice's thoughts were drawn back to the black and white tom in front of him, and at the mere mention of hunting the toms ears perked. He'd be able to run again. He could climb the trees, and provide for his Clan again. He jumped to his feet, fluffy fur sticking out in several different directions. But he didn't care. His eagerness to finally escape the camp barriers that seemed to close in on him, even more, every day was evident, both in his stature and the way he talked."Yes, Mumblefoot. I am up for some hunting." No matter his efforts to stay calm and collected, the urge to stretch his legs again had overthrown his want to appear poised.

"Lets get on with it then." The tailless tom lead them from the camp and swiftly into the trees. It wasn't long until he scented a robin. Flicking his ears and raising his maw he pin pointed it. With a pounce, Mumblefoot easily took down his first kill. One down. Newleaf was much better than leafbare.

"Alright." As soon as they were out in the foresty territory, the tom caught onto the scent of a squirrel. He sniffed around, quickly catching on and following it, making sure to use everything Crowstar had taught him, which included staying downwind. As soon as he spotted it, he leapt, landing square on it's back and ending it's life quickly with his large paw.

His eyes scanned the trees for something else. Nothing where he was. But there was a flash of something on the ground. Mouse! He made his way down lower and tried to pinpoint its movements. It was too quick. The creature darted into a hole before he could capture it between his claws.

With hardly as much as a single glance towards Mumblefoot, Swiftpaw continued to search the air for the faintest smell of prey. He quickly caught onto a sparrow that fluttered it's wings a little too loudly. He padded quickly- albeit quietly- towards the sound that had caused his attention to turn. When he laid eyes on it finally, he made a quick leap, scrambling in a flutter of feathers and fairly loud squeals of protest from the bird. He was finally able to snag it with his claw, and he drug it towards him, biting into it's neck to end the suffering for it as quickly as he could. This would be a geat season for hunting.

He wandered in search of something else. A scent that he was not too familiar with wafted from off to the left. Hare? The creature seemed to have come from a long way. Despite the fact he had barely hunted them before, Mumblefoot noticed the flash of white fur below. It was a rather well-rounded creature. He would go for it. Launching himself from the tree, his claws snagged the fur and it was incredibly close but it kicked off in the last second. Tiny sharp claws slashed against his nose and he leaped back as little drops of blood welled up on his nose.
