A Nice Day

Featherlight realized with a start that, despite the nicer weather, she hadn't taken much time to actually enjoy it yet. It had been work, work, and more work, recovering from all the tragedies that had hit the Clan in a fairly short time period. Today, however, she felt like taking some time to interact with her Clanmates. In her eyes, knowing each of them on an individual level was important to her - she didn't have the same proximity most of them did to one another. Her den was shared only with Mottleheart, who was often as busy with work as she was and had to provide advice to even Ashstar.

Sometimes, days like this were filled with ponderings. What would a world where Sageleaf had not taken her on as an apprentice be like? Who would take her place, who would be standing here? Would those that had been lost live on? Would she have been a warrior, able to stand proud and fight for her Clan the same way she tried to heal them? She shook her head, hoping to clear her mind of these thoughts - what was past was past. Regret, she had come to believe, was simply an attempt to avoid something that had already happened and could not be undone.

It was her mind wandering back to her regrets that led her to think perhaps she didn't spend enough time outside, interacting with her Clanmates. Carefully placing the last of the bundles back in their designated spot, she exited the medicine cat's den with a soft sigh. The breeze felt nice on her fur, and she stretched herself out not far from the den - just in case. With any luck, however, today would be kind to her and she could enjoy the weather and, perhaps, some nice company.

"Featherlight? I have a question," Nectarleap stated, padding up to Featherlight. His usually energetic and cheerful voice was gone, replaced with a hard sullenness. After his initial painful explosion of feeling at Stormcloud and Willowpaw's deaths, he had become more like this. Just a sad shell of his old self. The question he was about to ask would have just been a reminder to himself and everyone else of what had happened, so upon seeing the medicine cat's smile, he decided to ask a different one. Something less depressing. Not everyone had to have their day ruined by his mood. "Do you know where I could find some thyme?"

"Thyme?" Featherlight inquired. "I think we could all use a little extra time," she added lightly - a joke she found amusing, at least. His sullen tone was not lost on her, and if she could cheer him up at all she wanted to. But this was not the time to poke and prod for answers, that could wait a little while. "I'm sure I could find some for you, Nectarleap. What do you need it for?"
