Dovepaw's Warrior Ceremony

Ashstar leapt onto the Tallrock. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!"

Dovepaw padded out of the apprentices' den with a slightly tired expression on her face. Every day after her moonstone journey, she had been impatiently waiting for the time that she'd become a warrior. It still hadn't come yet, and disappointment swept over the gray tabby whenever night fell and no announcements were made for her. So, she expected nothing during this meeting. The WindClanner sat near the other apprentices and stared up at Ashstar, waiting for her to speak.

Ashstar looked down at the apprentice, smiling in pride. Another good, loyal apprentice had earned her warrior name, and would fight honorably for WindClan. "We gather here today to make one of our apprentices a warrior. She has proven herself worthy to climb the ranks of WindClan and receive her warrior name. Dovepaw, please step forwards." Once the she-cat did, she continued with the ceremony. "I, Ashstar, leader of WindClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Dovepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

The amount of shock that went through Dovepaw's veins was almost painful. The gray tabby rose to her paws and took a step forwards immediately after Ashstar gave the command. It was time, finally. Instinctively, a huge smile began to grow on the she-cat's maw. The eyes of her Clanmates were all on her, and she loved the attention. She was ready to receive her warrior name in front of them all.
"I do." She said, solemnly, but there was a twinkle in her yellow eyes as she looked up at the gray-pelted leader.

Practically bursting with pride, Brindlewhisker finally relented in her outwardly stoic expression and grinned at the sight of the smile upon her daughter's face. Of all of her kits to earn their Warrior name, there was little doubt in her mind that Dovepaw had worked the hardest thus far. Straightening up beside the Tallrock, the Deputy's tail twitched eagerly as she awaited the ceremony's conclusion.

Ashstar nodded in satisfaction. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Dovepaw, from this moment you will be known as Dovestream. StarClan honors your skill and passion, and we welcome you as a full warrior of WindClan." The leader leapt down and rested her muzzle on top of the new warrior's head with a smile, finishing the ceremony.
