Mistkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to hunt their own prey, gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting!" Another of Smokewish's kit was ready to be an apprentice. This time, it was the turn of her son, Mistkit. He personally didn't know him well because every time he was in the camp he was always busy checking his own kits rather than visiting the nursery. But he was sure that the tom would be a good addition to the clan as well as his parents.

After thoroughly grooming Mistkit’s pelt, Smokewish led him out of the nursery to sit by the willow branch. Today, her son would join Nightpaw and Mudpaw in the apprentice den, and she couldn’t be more proud. A smile curled the corners of her lips upwards as she ran her tongue a final time between his ears and turned her attention to the deputy.

Mistkit whined softly as his mother groomed his fur until it was orderly. His soft green eyes stared back at the deputy and sat tall and proud.

The warrior looked at the green eyes of the apprentice and smiled. "Mistkit, please step forward."

Jaystream watched him as he came nearer and stood in the middle of the crowd of cats around the willow branch. Looking at the tom-kit proudly, he continued talking. "Mistkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and now it is time for you to be apprenticed. From now on you will be known as Mistpaw and you'll be trained by Batfang, one of our most experienced warriors in the clan. I pray to the stars that he'll train you well to transform you into a fine and loyal Riverclan warrior."
