Sweetkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Ashstar leapt onto the Tallrock. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" she yowled, shaking a chill out of her pelt.

Hearing Ashstar's call Sweetkit leapt up and hopped out of the nursery, literally bursting with excitement. She was sure this was it, today was the day of her apprentice ceremony. Since she wasn't paying attention, Sweetkit's next hop resulted in her crashing into a cat who had been a few paces ahead of her.

Within a moment Sweetkit had recovered from the collision and apologized to the cat. Without waiting for a response the she-kit rushed the rest of the way to Tallrock.

Ashstar nodded approvingly at the young kit. "Sweetkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Sweetpaw. Your mentor will be Laurelsong. I hope she will pass down all she knows on to you."

"Sweetpaw! Sweetpaw!" Nectarleap chanted, feeling overwhelming pride at Sweetpaw's new status. When Laurelsong was named her mentor, he knew he had to do something. As much as he trusted his best friend, he also needed her to know something. He knew she would do her best no matter what, but maybe his request would give her more motivation. "Please keep her safe. I don't know if I'd be able to handle losing another one." After whispering that to the warrior, he smiled at his adopted daughter. "Congratulations!"

Her chest puffing out confidently, the young warrior began to pad forward to greet her new apprentice before she was stopped by Nectarleap, Sweetpaw's adopted father.  She listened to his request, and nodded with a smile, before bending down to touch noses with Sweetpaw.  "Training begins early tomorrow morning, be prepared."

Sweetpaw came to a halt in front of Laurelsong to touch noses with her new mentor before backing up a step to bounce excitedly as she nodded. "Perfect! I can't wait!"
