Mischievous Night [Open]

Wolfkit was bored. New kits were considered too young to really do much. He found most of his days were spent in the nursery, but he had been watchful through the entrance, observing the other cats. Taking note of who they were when he could figure it out, and what each building was based on conversation and movement. He had figured out which was the warrior's den, which was the medicine cat's den, and so on save for a few. Finally, he felt he knew all there was to know about Skyclan's camp.

What was most interesting to Wolfkit now, was what lied outside of the camp! He had heard of a few places, but what he longed for most was to explore himself, so he made a plan. He would sneak out and be on his way to seeing more! He had heard of creeks of water, and mountains high! His interest had been caught. He had to know more, to see for himself!

Once night fell, Wolfkit began to move for the exit of the camp, his black pelt melding with the shadows, searching for anything and everything he could find, "Maybe I will find a mountain so high it reaches Starclan! Or! Or I could find a huge creek that would take days to cross!" He found himself talking out-loud barely able to contain his excitement just as he passed the Leader's Den.

Tinypaw padded through the camp entrance, a small smile on her face. She had left camp long ago, before the sun began to set, so that she could go to her favorite tree to watch it, loving the beautiful colors the sky made as the sun's light died away. She made this trip almost everyday, whenever she could manage to get away from Tawneyfur. She loved her aunt very much but she had started to come to realize that being an apprentice sucked.

Lost in her thoughts, Tinypaw would have completely missed the black kit slinking through the camp if it hadn't been for his loud daydreaming. Tilting her head to the side Tinypaw sat herself down right beside the camp entrance, curious to see what the kit was up to.

Wolfkit was nearly oblivious to the new apprentice that had appeared next to the entrance, lost in his daydreaming. As he approached he only took notice of the apprentice as he refocused out of his reverie and on his task at hand.

He knew he could get in trouble for sneaking out if he were caught, so he retreated deeper into the shadows that only his mismatched gold and blue eyes shone through staring at the new cat.

Had he been notice? Did they overhear his daydreaming? What should he do? He asked all these questions and decided the best course of action was to just approach the entrance like it was nothing and if he was spoken to he would respond, but if not he would walk out like it was his right to do so.

Brokenpaw couldn't sleep. He had been so excited to finally be allowed to climb when he wanted, besides when he was busy with other apprentice training; now just hoping for the chance to sit lazily among the treetops was all he thought of.

Usually he wouldn't pay much mind to others' activities outside in Skyclan camp, however he noticed the oddity of voice smaller and even younger than his own. It was near the Leader's Den so maybe it was a sick kit being ushered somewhere...but why would they move it? And why at night? Brokenpaw's worry for a young kit won him over, and he peeked his head outside the warmth of his den. He couldn't see anything, but maybe if he listened he would hear something again...

IC: Tinypaw was suprised, and a touch annoyed, that the kit was trying to leave camp despite her being right there. Rolling her eyes and smirking she spoke to the kit, not even noticing Brokenpaw come out of the apprentice den. "I can still see you, kit. Where do you think you're going?" As she spoke to the kit she couldn't help but chuckle, usually she was the one IN trouble, not the one catching others for it.

Wolfkit knew he had no other options now, he had to talk his way out of this. He looked over at Tinypaw and spoke, "I was just out for some fresh air. Thought I might try climbing a tree or finding a creek!" Not taking notice of Brokenpaw's appearance from the apprentice den.

Wolfkit shifted to look past Tinypaw through the entrance wondering how far he could make it if he ran for it, and if he was even fast enough to get past the older apprentice. He thought for sure he could make it past just one apprentice. But what if he could get the apprentice to let him pass, or even take him exploring!

Who was Tinypaw talking to? Brokenpaw still couldn't see the younger cat, but he heard him speak again to the other apprentice. He walked toward the entrance of the camp. So, this kit thinks he's just going to go play in the middle of the night? He couldn't help but chuckle as he finally took in the sight of the dark Wolfkit pawing the ground. "Fancy yourself an adventurer do you?", he said smirking.

Tinypaw looked the kit over in thought. Honestly she had always though banning the kits from leaving camp was a bad idea, the reason being this moment exactly. Kits were extremely curious and any time they were told they couldn't do something they wanted to do that exact thing. For a moment she wondered if taking the kit out just a few steps into the forest might sate his curiousity and get him to return to camp willingly.

Just then, Brokenpaw padded up. Though Tinypaw was a bit startled she chuckled at the other apprentices teasing of the kit. Coming up with an idea Tinypaw rose, stretching as she did. "How about this. Me and Brokenpaw will show you how to climb a tree here in camp. That way we don't get in trouble and you don't have to wait an extra moon for your apprentice ceremony?"

Wolfkit sat considering both cats, noticing he was outnumbered and not so overconfident that he believed he could outrun two apprentices with their training and age difference he had to make a decision.

Turning first to Brokenpaw, "I am an adventurer, no doubt about it! I'll take on any challenge!" Then answering the apprentice at the entrance, "Hmmm, I don't mind getting in trouble too much, I mean I've never been in that big of trouble before... buuut, it would make the camp less boring to be able to climb trees.... I'll take your offer!" Wolfkit was so excited to take on the new challenge, his mismatched eyes gleamed with the energy of his anticipation. He was ready, and soon he would be able to take his apprentice ceremony, this would help where exploring and leaving camp wouldn't.

Brokenpaw was always amazed at the kits who were in such a desperate hurry to become a warrior, it just wasn't all the clan made it up to be; at least it didn't seem so to him. However, he couldn't fault the kit for wanting to be in the trees, after all that was his own favorite part of being a Skyclan cat. If Tinypaw was willing to show this kit how to climb, he supposed he would be interested in sharing the time to impart his favorite skill as well. "Well, the night's not getting any younger my friends", he said to the two cats in front of him.

Tinypaw's ears perked at Brokenpaw's use of the word friend to address her, it not being common with how stand-offish and sarcastic she usually was. Shrugging it off with a smirk, Tinypaw led the way to one of the trees that surrounded Skyclan's camp which sloped gradually, making it perfect for learning to climb. Nodding to the tree Tinypaw looked to the kit. "Okay, dig your claws into the bark and try to pull yourself up the tree. Once we see you try we should be able to give you tips on how to improve your technique."

Wolfkit could barely contain his excitement. He padded up to the tree, and started by digging his claws in. Latching first his front paws and attempting to pull, then scraping his back feet back and forth, not making much progress. It looked as if he were trying to walk, right, left, right, left.

Brokenpaw and Tinypaw stood on either side of Wolfkit as he attempted to make his way up the tree. He took a second to smirk at Tinypaw, to share the amusement of this small kit climbing for the first time. He told the kit, "Try to aim for the indentations of the bark, especially while your claws are still small, Wolfkit. The deeper wood should be easier to grab ahold of."

Tinypaw chuckled under her breath when Brokenpaw smirked at her but tried to school her face into a serious look. With Brokenpaw's advice Tinypaw nodded and spoke up shortly after. "Yeah, also, you look like you are trying to walk up the tree. That's not gonna work. Crouch against the tree as if you were going to stalk prey, then put your left forepaw above your head on the trunk and put your right hindleg higher than your left. Then pull yourself up and push with your hind leg at the same time."

Wolkit listened and adapted his movements to their advice. Digging his claws into the indentions of the bark, and moving his left paw up above his head in a crouch, next placing his right hind leg above his left. After listening to their advice he attempted to pull with his left front paw while pushing with his right hind leg. It seemed to be working much better than his first attempt, "Hey, look! I'm actually climbing a little! Anymore advice that I need?"

Wolfkit might not seem like it being the troublemaker he is, but if he doesn't know something he is always willing to learn. He was eager to accept help almost as much as he was to give it when it was within his power to do so. Here, he needed all the help he could get. Somebody helps you, you help another. That was his philosophy, accept the help while you can so that when another is in need you are better prepared to help them too. "Just watch! At this rate I will be a warrior in no time!"
