An Official Heron Patrol(CLOSED)

Heronflight knew that RiverClan needed prey, so he would hunt for them. "I'm starting a hunting patrol," he called out at a medium volume. He hoped that someone would join him in this hunting patrol.

He really wished he could just sit around camp and do nothing for once, but he knew Silverfang would've wanted him to join as many hunting patrols as possible so he could practice his hunting techniques, so at Heronflight's announcement Shadepaw grumbled to himself and rose up to his paws before padding from the apprentices' den over to his Clanmate. "I suppose I'll come with."

Spotfur bounded over to his friend. Heck, I'll join up!"

Smokewish padded out of the warrior's den at the commotion, shaking bits of moss from her sleek pelt. At the sight of a patrol forming, she padded over, and a grin crawled onto her face when she saw that Spotfur was there. "Mind if I tag along?" She asked Heronflight, bumping her shoulder affectionately against Spotfur as she walked past him.

Heronflight nodded to his clanmates.  "Okay, let's get some prey!" he mewed.  The tom led the group to the stream where he caught his first fish and fought his first predator.  "This spot is a memorable place for me in the river.  This is where I caught my first fish."  Suddenly, Heronflight spotted a sliver of scales and swiped at the fish. The fish flopped onto the bank, where the young warrior bit its spine.

Shadepaw honestly wasn't very interested in hunting fish. Instead, he wanted to practice landscape hunting like Silverfang had taught him. He and his mentor both knew he was horrible at hunting on land because his paws would always spread too far apart and his footsteps would always be too loud, so Silverfang had suggested using that same hunting skill on a much muddier terrain, and it had worked like a charm -- he had caught his first frog!

He broke away from the warriors and sniffed out a frog laying in the mud. He crouched down and waded through the mud with ease, creeping closer and closer to his target. Just like last time, he was able to stay undetected by the frog, and he pounced on it, digging his claws into its tough green skin and biting into the back of its neck. Satisfied, he let out a happy purr and placed the frog on a drier part of the riverbank and resumed his hunt for more of his favorite prey.

Spotfur nudged Smokewish back with a smile, then went to a stream to hunt fish. He quickly flipped a fish out and bit its neck.

Smokewish purred and walked off to find her own piece of prey. She couldn't decide between fish or land prey. She decided to practise her land hunting skills, and before long she could see a water vole, sniffing at the reeds on the riverbank. She crouched down low, her claws slipping out of their sheaths and her tail swaying behind her. She pounced forwards, landing on the vole and nipping the back of it's neck, swiftly and cleanly ending it's life.

After catching a fish and burying it, Heronflight decided to try to catch land prey.  The tom stalked a lizard basking in the sun, and the gray tom pounced on it. However, the brown creature was too fast for the warrior, who sighed in disappointment. [color=MidnightBlue]I guess I'll need to catch something else this trip...
