Reeds in the Shade

Reedclaw stood near the entrance of camp, he had asked Shadpaw to meet him there. He figured that he would see how his training was progressing with his mother. He knew that Silverfang did not approve of his choice of mate with Sweetheart, and did not show affection for her grandson by any means. "Shadepaw hurry up!" He called to the new apprentice.

Shadepaw, who had been busy talking to a few other apprentices about fighting techniques, heard his father's call, and without properly excusing himself he rushed over to Reedclaw. "Hi, Reedclaw! You said you were gonna see how my training's been going, right? Well, lemme tell you that Silverfang is super strict and unbearable to be around, but she certainly knows how to fight!"

Seeing his son moving towards him with purpose nodded to the small tom. He listened to what Shadpaw spewed about his training. "I'm glad my mother is not taking your training lightly." Of course, the warrior knew that his sister had complained of their mother being a little to hard during training, but it produced good and capable warriors to protect and provide for RiverClan. Reedclaw was also happy that it seemed as though Shadepaw didn't realize that the harshness from his grandmother was from a general dislike of him. "Well let's see your hunting skills first, shall we?" The dark tabby turned on his hind paws and trotted out of camp. They got to the river, and Reedclaw turned to his son, "Let me see you catch a fish."

Shadepaw started looking worried now. "Er... Silverfang says I'm a horrible hunter. She says I stumble around too much as if I were hunting in marshes. Like a... Like a disgusting ShadowClan cat! I don't know why I hunt so horribly..." In a rare instance, he looked up at his father rather worryingly.
