Newtface was quite annoyed.
He had been in a good mood all day, but after he had begun to think about Rosepaw, he had become irritated. No, it wasn't because he didn't like Rosepaw. In fact, it was quite the opposite. The tom was still rather confused about his feelings towards the black-and-white she-cat, but time had started to slowly reveal everything to him. The speckled tom was sure that he wasn't completely at the love stage. At least, he thought he wasn't. He saw Rosepaw as a friend... a really, really close friend, and maybe even a bit more than that. However, he knew that he definitely couldn't use the word 'love' to describe it, yet. All Newtface wanted to do was grasp what he was feeling, and then he'd be fine.

The day had kept Newtface in camp for most of the time, and he was itching to head out and hunt. He didn't feel like hunting alone, though. When was the last time that he and Rosepaw had spent one-on-one time together? The tortoiseshell warrior rose from where he had been sitting and headed over to the apprentices' den. He slowly and gingerly poked his head in so that he could try and spot the familiar apprentice.
"Rosepaw?" He asked, "Are you in here?"

Rosepaw quickly wiped her tears away then looked up at newtface. "ya what's up?" she asked with a sad voice.

Newtface immediately noticed Rosepaw's downcast expression and unhappy voice. This brought the tom a great amount of concern. The speckled fur on the back of his neck raised a bit.
"I was going to ask if you wanted to go hunting, but obviously, something is wrong. Do you wanna talk about it?" The tom asked with genuine worry in his voice.
Maybe, if it was any other cat that would've been acting sad, he wouldn't have really cared. This was different, though... this was Rosepaw, and if someone had hurt her, then he would make sure that they learned a long and painful lesson.

She looked at him. "oh well I had a nightmare of hailpaw during again. Every time I close my eyes I see that monster running him over. I always wake up remembering that really happened and I was there and didn't stop him." she said sitting up.

Newtface frowned as Rosepaw began to speak. These nightmares were obviously bothering her. There was nothing that the tom could do to stop the dreams, but he could try to reassure her. He was bad at this, though. He wasn't used to trying to make people feel better, but he would at least try his hardest.
"Why don't we take a walk and hunt a little? That certainly helps me when I'm not feeling okay."

She got to her feet. "OK what should be the amount we both catch?" she asked walking out of the apprentice den. She also knew that doing her favorite activity would calm her down.

"Let's start with at least three. I know that you just had a nightmare, so don't pressure yourself to catch a lot." Newtface told Rosepaw as he began to lead the way out of camp. However, out of sheer spontaneity, the speckled tom placed his tail comfortingly over the black-and-white cat's shoulders. What in the name of StarClan was he doing? Would Rosepaw even like the fact that he was doing this?
Stop questioning yourself, Newtface.

Rosepaw smiled up at him. "why is he the only cat in the clan to be nice to me?"she thought and leaned on him. She knew most of Shadowclan but lots of them where mean to her. Wildpaw was always asking for a fight so he was no good. Minnowpaw was sweet and so was scorchfang but they always played with each other and never her. She sighed and stopped thinking about that stuff.

All of Newtface's unnatural nerves seemed to fade away immediately after Rosepaw leaned against him. Once the two of them had made it out of camp, the speckled tortoiseshell reluctantly removed his tail from the apprentice's shoulders. They had come out here to hunt, and that was what he was going to do. The yellow-eyed warrior didn't go far from Rosepaw, but he did branch out enough so that he could attempt to catch the frog that he had spotted. He couldn't help but grin as he crouched down and stalked towards the slimy creature. Once the tom was close enough, he pushed himself off the ground, into the air, and towards the oblivious frog. To his satisfaction, he landed on top of the frog and immediately killed it with a swift, merciless bite. More valuable prey for ShadowClan cat been caught. Newtface gingerly buried the frog, and then he headed back over towards Rosepaw.

rosepaw smiled as he caught a frog. she wanted to prove she was as good a hunter as he was. she caught the scent of a lizard and stalked towards it. when she was close enough she pounced and killed it in one bite.

Newtface shot Rosepaw a smile after she caught the lizard, and his yellow eyes were glowing with pride and friendliness. Any other time, he may have cared only about catching every single piece of prey that he went after. Now, he only cared about the fact that Rosepaw was with him... and he wanted her to feel better. Having recurring nightmares about something as terrible as watching a denmate die was something that he knew had emotionally scarred the apprentice that was with him. While being lost in his thoughts, the speckled tom laid his eyes upon a mouse.
Perfect.
With swift and silent movement, Newtface slipped through the small stretch of territory in order to reach the tiny rodent. He narrowed his yellow eyes to slits, and then he sprang forwards with outstretched claws. Once again, the tom successfully ended up catching his prey between his paws. With a bite that was both quick and without leniency, the ShadowClan warrior killed the mouse. He felt proud for himself as he buried that piece of prey, just like he had done for the frog, and trotted back over to Rosepaw with another small smile on his muzzle.
"Starting to feel any better, Rosepaw?" Newtface asked, still concerned for the she-cat's wellbeing.

Rosepaw smiled as he caught yet another price of prey. She wished she was a great hunter like him. Out of nowhere she started to laugh. "Of course I'm better I'm spending time with you, its my two favorite things in one." she said still laughing happily.
