A Light in the Darkness (Open)

Everything about this kit's situation matches her own way to closely. A mother who died while giving birth, a missing father, and no litermates. She knew what it was like to feel utterly alone in the nursery, and having to learn how to chew and eat prey at way to young of an age. It was the most lonely feeling, not as bad as guilt, but close. So Nutfur had made up her mind to adopt Lightkit so that she wouldn't have to experience the same thing. It would be like with Cobwebkit, but just not against the rules or in secret. The chestnut colored warrior stepped into the nursery, having already chewed up part of a frog for the she-kit. Over the last couple of moons, she had become a master at the skill of chewing up the reptile. Now her hazel eyes searched the den for cream kit, quickly spotting her and padding over. She dropped the chewed up frog at the kit's feet and smiled warmly at her.
"I brought you something to eat. After you finish, would you like a tour of camp?" the warrior warrior asked gently, trying to make Lightkit feel comfortable. Maybe her adopted son couldn't leave his den, but her adopted daughter could. That was of course, if she wanted to. It would be perfectly understandable if she would rather stay in the nursery.

The small,pale,spotted kit laid in a lone nest in the reed woven den of the nursery. The she kit had a lot going on for her her real mother isn't apart of her life her father mysteriously gone and she had no littermates,and on top of that she seemed to be the clumsiest kit in the clan with her legs shaking horrible at times with other things as well. She did experience some kits(npc) make fun of her because of this. But she laid in the nest alone for a moment til she heard an older cat come towards her and her blue eyes looked up to  Nutfur and then the chewed up frog. Her front legs shook a tiny bit as she lifted herself into a sitting position.  She then blinked and said"t..thank you"she mewed quietly starting to eat the chewed up frog before she looked up at  the she cat."y..yeah I would like a tour"she mewed quietly looking to her. She ate what she could of the frog and stood her legs shaking just ever so slightly as she stood. She had heard a comment from one kit(npc) and flattened her ears for a moment before she mewed "can we go now"she asked taking each step slowly.

"Yes, we can start now," Nutfur purred warmly, glad that Lightkit was able to eat the frog. Fairly soon her teeth would be strong enough for fish, too. The warrior threw a threatening look at the kit who made the rude comment, but said nothing, just beckoning with her tail for her adopted daughter to follow her out of the nursery. Her wobbly steps were obvious, but she dismissed that as something all young kit's experienced. An unbiased mind might have thought differently, but right now she didn't have that luxury. Looking around camp, she decided they could start by looking around the apprentice den. Most kits were all to eager to end up there as soon as possible. "Follow me. I'm going to show you the den where you will be sleeping in just a few moons."

Spotpaw padded out of the apprentice's den to see Nutfur and a kit. "Who's this,
Riverclan's new terror?" He asked.

Lightkit gave a small smile as she followed her out of the nursery her legs shaking with each step but she managed to remain standing none the less. She looked to Nutfur before she looked to the apprentice."I'm Lightkit"she spoke up to his question about who she was.

Wrenkit was curled up in her nest, when chattering woke her up.  She walked to Lightkit and introduced herself.  "Hello!  I'm Wrenkit!  You're...Lightkit, right?" she asked, overhearing the conversation while she was asleep.

"She's something all right," Nutfur replied to Spotpaw after Lightkit had introduced herself. It was a good thing that more cats were coming, kits should be acquainted with all of their clanmates before their apprentice ceremony. The situation was made even better when Wrentit padded over. Even better to have friends her own age. "I'm giving Lightkit a tour of camp. Do you want to come along, Wrenkit?" This would be more fun this way. The more the merrier, as the saying went. She wished Cobwebkit could have these kind of opportunities, but he wouldn't know anyone other than her and Hollowbranch for a while. Sighing, she focused back on the task at paw.

"YES! That would be AMAZING!!!" she squealed, her mottled brown fur pricking with excitement.

Lightkit blinked bright blue eyes for a moment before she stayed quiet nodding a tiny bit and with shaky legs she moved closer to Nutfur.

"Okay then! I'll show you both the apprentice den," Nutfur once again explained, smiling at Wrenkit when she wanted to join. She once again touched her tail against Lightkit's flank in an effort to rebalance her, and began walking towards the apprentice den, a little more slowly this time. This kit seemed to have more trouble learning to walk than the other kits her age. Even at their slow pace, they soon reached the apprentice den. The tangled reeds served as the walls and roof of the den, though they were coated with moss, as it always was in Leafbare. Shiny rocks and shells lay around the outside of the den, courtesy of some bored apprentice. Moss and feather dens lined the inside, holding the scent of many of the clan's apprentices. "This is the den where you will be sleeping in just a few more moons."

"I can help show them around," He offered, padding after them.

Lightkit balanced out a little bit as she walked beside Nutfur. Hee legs still shaking the whole time. Lightkit didn't know what it was she just knew it wasn't normal. She padded putting one paw slowly in front of the other. Fearful of trippingnherself which she had done before. Her head lifted looking up to Nutfur her new adopted mom.

Wrenkit followed Nutfur and Lightkit, seeing the huge apprentice den.  She saw an apprentice laying in his den, and she swatted the gray tom in the nose.

Heronpaw had a really bad dream.  It was about RiverClan falling and an evil force killed all of the RiverClan cats.  Suddenly, a tiny paw touched his nose.  "What are you doing here, young kit?" he asked.

Wrenkit replied, "Nutfur let me explore the camp with her and Lightkit!  Also, I'm Wrenkit.  What's your name?" Her eyes met the young tom's, waiting for an answer.

"My name is Heronpaw.  It's nice to meet you, Wrenkit."

"It's nice to meet you too, Heronpaw!"

"Of course you can, Spotpaw," Nutfur answered, nodding gratefully at the apprentice. Spotpaw seemed smart to her, and he would be a good cat to tag along.Se carefully steadied Lightkit again, starting to wonder why her adopted daughter needed more help than all of the other kits. Hopefully it would be all straightened out in just a few days. The warrior groaned her disapproval when Wrenkit ran into the apprentice's den and started batting at Heronpaw's nose. Why in StarClan's name did she think that was a good idea? Even though the apprentice didn't seem bothered, she still felt the need to intervene. Stepping into the den, she glared at the two younger cats. "Wrenkit, that was incredibly rude. You shouldn't just wake cats up and hit their noses. Not to say that Heronpaw didn't deserve it for sleeping in."

Spotpaw smiled. "Okay!" He said, "Should we show them Cloudstone and Goldenpaw's den next?"
