The Heron will Catch Fish(OPEN HUNTING PATROL)

Heronpaw walked out of the apprentice den. He saw that there was not much fresh-kill left in the fresh-kill pile. "Hey! I'm starting a patrol! Let's catch some fish!" he yowled. Now he waited for a warrior.

The she-cat, who was laying under the sun quietly, opened her eyes by the sudden call of a noisy apprentice. She frowned, giving him an annoyed look before standing up and approaching him. "You! You can't start a patrol without a warrior! That's why I'll go with you, okay?" She mewed at first with an angry look but at the end, she smirked raising an eyebrow. Silverfang wasn't the type of cat that would miss the opportunity to go out of this boring camp.

Reedpaw hauled tail from the other side of camp when he heard a voice call for a hunting patrol.  Any chance he had to sharpen his hunting skills was needed.  He smiled when he saw that his mother leading the patrol.  "Where are we headed today?"

Heronpaw sat on his haunches.  "We are going to go hunting for fish in the river!" he said to Reedpaw and Silverfang.  "RiverClan needs fresh-kill!"

The silvery she-cat purred delightedly seeing that her son, Reedpaw, was joining them too. Since her kits were apprentices, she hadn't got the chance to spend time with them, being Frostpaw the only exception. "You're right, Heronpaw. Riverclan needs more fresh-kill. Fishing, uh? We must go to the river and search for a place that doesn't have any ice. What are you waiting for? Let's go already." She mewed, making her way to the exit of the camp.

"You're right. Let's go!" Heronpaw said to the two cats.

(Time Skip)

When they arrived at the river, Heronpaw began looking for a part of the river that was unfrozen, or at least partially unfrozen. He found a piece of the river that had a few pieces of ice, but not enough to interfere with their hunting. There is enough space for all of us to hunt, he thought. "Everyone! I found a great spot to hunt!" he yowled to the others.

The dark tabby nodded at the assertiveness of the younger apprentice.  "I like the way you think."  Reedpaw fell in line behind his fellow apprentice and his mother until they made it to the river.  The young tom looked up and down the river in order to find a place for fishing, but was cut short when Heronpaw yowled loud enough for everyone to hear, but not loud enough to scare the prey.  He nodded and picked out a spot along the river.

Silverfang hissed quietly, a bit annoyed by the loud apprentice but she preferred to just stay quiet and continue with the patrol. "Good. Try not to scare the prey." She mewed stepping closer to the water and crouching down. Her tail flicked impatiently until the first silver flash appeared. With one quick swipe, the fish flew away from the water with a small splash and Silverfang caught it with her jaws, killing it swiftly.

Heronpaw saw Silverfang catch a fish.  Come on, Heronpaw, the clan is depending on you! he thought.  Suddenly a silver gleam shone out.  Heronpaw swatted at it, then the fish flew onto the riverbank and flopped on drier land, where the tom killed it swiftly.

Reedpaw sat the riverside waiting for a fish to swim by, so that he could snatch it up out of the water.  After a few Heronpaw and Silverfang had gotten their fish, a sizable fish reflected the scarce sun's rays. The tom's claws unsheathed he reached into the icy waters and hooked the fish enough to pull it out onto the land before killing it.

The older she-cat grinned when she saw that they were having a lucky day. Her odd eyes looked at the water after Reedpaw's catch and her paw tossed the first fish she saw away. Silverfang captured with her jaws once it landed on the shore and then she left it next to the other preys. Riverclan was surely going to get a lot of food after this, she thought.
