Rookkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Ashstar leapt onto the Tallrock. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" she yowled commandingly.

Rook-kit bounced out into the clearing, horribly excited for what was about to happen. She was going to be an apprentice at last, wasn't she? Oh! This was too riveting!

Silentstrike padded underneath the Tallrock, knowing this was some sort of ceremony. He looked at Rookkit, and thought, 'maybe this is her ceremony?' He walked over to her, licking the top of her head gently.

Ashstar nodded approvingly at the young kit. "Rookkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Rookpaw. Your mentor will be Brindlewhisker. I hope she will pass down all she knows on to you."

Sitting by her mate, Quailfeather watched with pride as her adopted kit gained her apprentice name. She had grown so fast... Though no one knew Rookkit's true origins- she had been found on their side of the Thunderpath, smelling faintly of ShadowClan, obviously abandoned- she and Silentstrike had taken the little one in as their own, and they loved her as much as they did Laurelsong, and as much as they had Mistpaw. When Quailfeather's kin and deputy, Brindlewhisker, was named as Rookpaw's mentor, her smile only grew. "Rookpaw! Rookpaw!" the senior warrior purred along with the Clan. Her daughter would be a great warrior.

Rookpaw gleamed with energy and pride at her new name, looking over to Brindlewhisker, the deputy. Wow! The Clan's best warrior was going to be her mentor! Certainly, that would help make her the best warrior ever!

"Rookpaw! Rookpaw!" Silentstrike chanted alongside Quailfeather. He sat beside her, looking over to Rookpaw. With Brindlewhisker as her mentor, the couple had nothing to worry about. He smiled as he looked down at Quailfeather, glad they had taken in the little kit.

Despite the fact that the weather of Leafbare was well under way, WindClan seemed to be exploding with newly named apprentices. Brindlewhisker had been seated close beside the Tallrock, her intrigued gaze trained upon the ceremony that was preceding before her- whenever Ashstar had suggested that she take another apprentice, she hadn't anticipated it to be the offspring of her kin. Ears twitching as her Leader called her name, Brindlewhisker rose to her paws and padded towards the newly-named apprentice.

"I hope that you're ready for training." She mewed, leaning forwards and gently touching noses with the younger she-cat.
