What a fantastic hunt! (OPEN)

It took a long while with how heavy the massive bird was, and her neck ached by the time they slipped through the barrier into ThunderClan's camp, but Heatherpaw was finally able to haul the dead owl back from the forest. She had dealt the killing bite after Emberpaw helped her weaken it when the bird of prey attacked the two apprentices during an unofficial hunting patrol, and Emberpaw had gained a few wounds from the fight. She needed to tell her friend to visit Honeyspark once they deposited their prey at the fresh-kill pile.

The two apprentices were also soaking wet after their dip in the river by the Owl Tree -- which explained their encounter with the owl, as well as Emberpaw's previous owl encounter during her first assessment. It was mainly to wash off the scent of owl the flame-colored she-cat most likely carried in her fur that attracted this owl, but besides that it was still a little refreshing considering the frigid temperature of the gently flowing water.

Heatherpaw huffed loudly and dropped the owl on the bare ground that served as the fresh-kill pile; the tragic fire combined with the season of leaf-bare has made prey quite scarce. She collapsed on her side again, unscathed from the fight with the bird of prey but completely spent in energy. "Thank StarClan we're home..." she panted. "My neck and jaws are killing me..."

Emberpaw found herself still in surprisingly good spirits once more after dropping the squirrel at the fresh-kill pile. "Really? You look pretty alive to me," she teased, stopping near the pile to rest and perhaps chat with any Clanmates that came by. She'd need to visit Honeyspark, yes... Later. For now she was content to rest here after an incredibly succesful hunt, particularly for the time of year. "I just feel soaking wet," she declared, beginning to attempt to groom the water out of her fur.

Heatherpaw rolled her eyes with an amused grunt, flicking her tail-tip against Emberpaw's nose playfully. She slowly rolled over onto her belly to lay down and looked around, wondering if any other cat would notice the incredible catch the two of them made. After all, thanks to them, the Clan would be feasting well from the owl and squirrel.
