Little Claws for a Big Windclan {OPEN}

When Fallowkit is asleep, only a few things have the ability to wake her. The battlecry of her denmates, rain (she hates being wet), and the smell of a good rabbit. In this case, it was the latter that woke Fallowkit from her slumber.

The pale orange tabby sat up with a jolt, her fur fluffed up against the cold leaf-bare winds, blinking sleep away from her green eyes. She looked around, flattening her ears with a yawn. She had slept through the day. "Aw gee it's the afternoon..." the tabby sighed, her raspy, yet kit-like voice ringing through the nursery. Stretching, she padded into the clearing, and then the whiff of something good hit her nose.

Rabbits! Fresh rabbits that the latest hunting patrol had brought in! Fallowkit smiled as she made the connection, the morning hunting patrols always came back in the... "Aw gee!" Fallowkit squeaked, visibly excited, "It's the afternoon!" The small tabby sprinted over to the pile of rabbits as fast as her little legs could carry her, bumping in to some clanmates along the way.

She tackled the rabbit closest to her, it was still warm, and bigger then Fallowkit herself! "Surrender Thunderclan!" The kit yowled, kneading the kill with her hind paws. The rabbit shifted, and slumped off of the pile and onto Fallowkit! "You'll never take me!" Fallowkit's voice was muffled from the weight of the rabbit pressing onto her. Another rabbit rolled from the pile and onto the small kit, and she disappeared from view. "I'll never admit defeat..." she squeaked, her voice even more muffled now then before, "I'll never admi--HELP!" Fallowkit's fighting spirit vanished like hot breath in the cold of leaf-bare. "HELP!"She cried, hoping someone would save her.

Harekit rolled around in the ground within the camp, pawing and chewing at the dead grass as it is blown by the wind. He couldn't wait until the day that he became an apprentice, it was only two moons away. The thought made it hard for him to not get excited. The kit continued to play with the grass until he heard an faint cry.

It drew his attention from the grass and to the Fresh-kill pile, which was well-stocked by the afternoon hunting patrol. With all the rabbits that laid upon the pile, it almost made his mouth water with how plump they were, though he knew that such prey would be reserved for the elders and queens as it far too big for a kit like him. As he glanced toward the pile, he heard the faint cry again and this time it was louder, he got closer to the pile.

Then he saw slight movement among the dead rabbits as he approached and finally it dawned upon him that there was kit stuck under the dead rabbits as the muffled cry came again. His eyes went wide at the thought that the poor kit was being crushed by the weight of the fat rabbits. He ran forth and tried to push one of the rabbits off of it, though it didn't give way with his meager strength. Harekit began an squeaky yowl "Someone help!"

Spiderfur's wound had healed quite well over the past two moons, although there would be a permanent scar running up the side of her neck and across her left cheek. The senior warrior was sitting perfectly still, thin tail wrapped around her tiny paws as she tried to soak in the weak Leaffall sun. Her eyes remained closed as her ears swiveled about, picking up on the slightest shuffle, shift, or sigh. She was still a bit weary from patrolling the ShadowClan border - both physically and emotionally - and was hoping to get a nap in before setting out again, perhaps to spend some time with her son, Swiftstep.

However, a soft thump from the fresh-kill pile caught the little she-cat's attention. The muffled, distressed mewls of two kittens made her large eyes flutter open to see one of them smothered underneath a pair of rabbits. Spiderfur hopped to her paws and half-jogged over and gently lifted each of the pieces of fresh-kill off the young she-kit. "Oh, are you alright?" She spoke softly, so as to hide her permanent stammer. Ever the mother, she quickly cleaned some of the dirt off of her and purred to the tom kit, "You are kind to be so concerned. What are you names?"

Fallowkit rose to her paws, uninjured, fur fluffed up with embarrassment. "I'm Fallowkit!" The pale tabby coughed, cursing herself for being so weak.  "Thanks!" She squeaked, hoping her enthusiasm would hide her humiliation.

Although she'd like for her clanmates to think that she had it under control, Fallowkit was secretly glad they came to rescue her. Her gaze flicked toward the rabbits, and she suddenly had a surge of pride for her clan. Windclan is so strong, the prey they catch is bigger then their kits! "Do you wanna share it?" Fallowkit mewed, attempting to nudge the rabbit over to her rescuers. Maybe the rabbit will take their mind off of me!

As the kit watched the she-cat tabby come to their aid and lift rabbits off of the kit, he felt relief as he saw that the kit was okay as she rose to her paws. The warrior commented on his concern of being kind caused the kit to show signs of embarrassment as his forepaws dig at the ground. Harekit originally feared that the other kit could have died under the rabbits due to his meager kitten strength and he would be blamed for her death, though now that didn't concern him as much now.

He heard the other kit introduce herself as Fallowkit and he proceed to say his name "I'm Harekit!". "Also Thanks for the help." he looked up at the warrior with gleam in his blue eyes. Then Fallowkit asked if they wanted to share one of the plump rabbits and the kit looked back at the older she-cat "Can we?" he said in a pleading tone.

"It's nice to meet you, Farrowkit and Harekit. I'm Spiderfur." The warrior sat, again with her tail around her paws. Harekit and Fallowkit. It was clear that they weren't siblings, so Spiderfur began to wonder whose kits they were before the two asked to share a rabbit. "Of course we can!" It was far too large to eat alone, and if she was being honest with herself, the rabbit was nearly her size! She dragged the fresh-kill a short hop away from the pile to give them a bit more space to eat. "Have either of you tasted rabbit before?" Her sharp teeth nipped through the pelt to allow the kits easier access.

"You two go first." She nudged one of the well-muscled back legs towards the pair with a front paw. While she was hungry herself, there was nothing like seeing a kit's very first taste of fresh-kill. It was always such a pure moment, something she never got tired of watching, even after all the moons she'd been alive.

Fallowkit's pupils widened as the smell of rabbit hit her nose. She'd only tasted it a few times, but the tabby knew it was her favorite from the start. Another reason to love this clan... Fallowkit closed her eyes as she sunk her teeth into the warm meat. She sat up, chewing, blood staining the fur around her mouth. "Isn't Windclan great?" She mumbled cheerfully, mouth full of food. Fallowkit swallowed, then flashed the two cats a big smile. "Do you want some?" She gestured to Harekit with her tail, and then moved over so he could take a bite.

Her gaze turned to Spiderfur. "Where did your scar come from?" Fallowkit inquired, head cocked to the side. "Do you think I'll get one too when I'm a warrior?"

Harekit heard the older she-cat agreed and she nudged over an leg to the kits, his eyes widen. "Really!" he mewed with excitement.  He hasn't tasted rabbit before, though he ate lizards. He curiously sniffed the leg, though before he could take an bite, Fallowkit dived in for a bite and started chewing on the meat where he was going to bite. This made Harekit let out an faint growl of jealousy and stared at the other kit as she ate til the kit turn to face them with a smile and she gestured her tail if he wants some.

It didn't take long for his jealousy to fade and he took up the offer. Without hesitation, he dug his teeth into another part of the leg and blood covered the white fur of his jaw. A pleasant savory taste flood his taste buds as he bit away some of the stringy muscle. "That's Good! Better than Lizard!" He mewed with delight and then accompanied with a loud purr. He focused on biting away more meat, he barely paid much attention to Fallowkit's question about Spiderfur's scar.
