A Feather On The Breeze [Open]

Featherpaw stretched out not far from the Clan's supply of herbs, looking about to see if she could spot her mother, or her father, or any of her siblings. She hadn't been the Clan's medicine cat apprentice for very long, but in that short time so many things had happened. Her mentor had barely taught her anything at all before disappearing to StarClan-knows-where, and the Clan seemed to harbor a resentment for Sageleaf that she didn't understand... Or, maybe she just didn't want to understand it. Whatever the case, Featherpaw barely knew anything about the herbs she was expected to use. She had been excited to learn everything Sageleaf had to teach her, but that seemed so long ago now. One cat had already been lost since her mentor's departure, and she couldn't help wondering how many more would follow before she could actually be of any use to her Clan. She shook her head, trying to search for something else now - a distraction from her thoughts, be it a kit playing games and trying to sneak out of the camp or her mother doing whatever important things she did as WindClan's deputy.

Frostpaw came out of the apprentice den and stretched. In a sunrise or two she would become warrior and everything in camp started to make her bored. She sat down and looked around for anyone to play with. She noticed the medicine apprentice featherpaw was doing what she was doing but she knew that the apprentice wouldn't want to play with an older apprentice. She sighed and started looking again but decided she would try. She got up and walked to the apprentice. "hi I'm frostpaw I was wondering if you wanted to play I'm soo bored and I thought u could use a break." she said sitting down.

Featherpaw glanced up in surprise. "...Well, I wouldn't mind playing. What games did you have in mind?" she asked as she stood. Was her discomfort that obvious to her Clanmates, she wondered? Regardless, she hadn't taken the time to play since her ceremony - she supposed it was overdue. As was getting to know her Clanmates - shyness wouldn't do her any favors when they needed her assistance.

Frostpaw could easily tell she was shy and wanted to help so bad since a medicine cat needed to socialize with its patient to help them. She thought and thought but couldn't think of a game. "i was the one who asked if you wanted to play and I can't even think of something to play." she said laughing. "do you have any ideas I could help you collect herbs or something." she offered.

Featherpaw laughed. "I don't think we're short on anything," she mused, though she did double-check the herb stock. Though she didn't know what most of them did yet, she did still know that they had enough of everything to last... Well, to last for a little while, anyway. Especially since she didn't know how to use them. "No, doesn't look like it... Hmm..." She hadn't been very big on playing games as a kit, and now she felt like it was a missed opportunity.

Frostpaw saw her check the herbs and couldn't help but feel silly. "i have idea since your a medicine cat apprentice want me to teach you some fight move she to protect yourself?" she asked.

"Oh, that's what we can do!" Featherpaw exclaimed, leaping to her paws once again. "Play-fighting!" A game she remembered her siblings playing, but one she hadn't played herself - it was perfect!

Frostpaw laughed at the medicine apprentice eagerness. "ok I'll go easy on you since your a beginner so u mak ethe first move." she told her.

Featherpaw's eyes sparkled, and she ran towards Frostpaw, striking the apprentice with her claws carefully sheathed, batting at her legs and trying to knock Frostpaw off-balance. She wasn't sure this would work, but she would try at least.

Frostpaw saw her coming and faced herself until she noticed all featherpaw was doing was batting her paw she took a step forward then put her paw on the apprentices tail and pinned her. "first mistake I saw that coming a tail length away." she told the apprentice still pinning her. "try again and this time make sure u at least try and hurt me pretend I'm a badger trying to steal a kit that was sick in the apprentice den." she said and let featherpaw go.

"Why is there a kit in the... Never mind," Featherpaw mumbled. She spent a moment observing Frostpaw before acting. She charged at the other apprentice, doing almost the same movements as before, but at the last second she swerved and attacked Frostpaw's side with unsheathed claws.

Frostpaw arched as the medicine cat did the same move then swerved at the last second. She felt a little pain in her side but it didn't hurt that bad as the apprentice clawed her side. While featherpaw was attacking her side she crept towards the medicine den then found a clump of moss to use as the kit. She grabbed it in her mouth and came back out. "nice moves but I still got the kit." she said sitting down licking the blood that came from the apprentices scratches.

"Sorry," Featherpaw apologized at the sight of the injury she had inflicted. "How does that work?" she asked, referring to the kit.
