A friend for a cripple (closed)

Limping through the open, moorland territory, Ryecloud made his way towards the ShadowClan border. The sun was beginning to set in the distance and he could tell that the evening air was becoming cooler, seeing how his pawpads became more sensitive to the cold ground bellow him.

Though the tom wasn't the best clan cat, he'd been given the task to patrol the border, and was honestly surprised that he had been instructed to go on his own. Was this some sort of test to see if he could manage on his own? Why else in StarClan's name would his clanmates trust him of all cats to conduct a border patrol?

With questions racing through his head, the lame tom soon arrived at the border. Of course it had taken him double the time to get here, seeing that his back his leg was of no use, but he'd successfully gotten here. Sniffing around, Ryecloud wrinkled his nose at the horrible Thunderpath stench and walked around the area, marking the border in a few places. It was oddly peaceful without monsters roaring by and he wondered where they were, though he wasn't planning on complaining.

The little warrior's vivd amber eyes were focused on the marshy ground before her as she followed a seemingly invisible path through Shadowclan's territory towards one of her favorite places.
Willowheart's life had been turned upside down. Her mentor, Leopardstar, had passed away a moon ago -had it really been that long?- and the young warrior still expected him to pad back into camp with a bundle of prey in his jaws, grinning as he was bombarded with curious kits and excited apprentices.

Willowheart wound her way between two low-growing bushes that grew barely over her head and emerged in a small clearing that was surrounded by various marsh plants. The ground was firmer here, and many birds nested among the thick branches of the bushes. Finally, she had some peace and quiet.

She was nearly settled when a rustle nearby interrupted her contemplative thoughts. Immediately her ears were trained on the sound. Silently she approached it, slipping out of her haven and closer to the Thunderpath. Her nose wrinkled, but not at the familiar acrid smell of the black trail ahead of her. The warrior could barely see a Windclan cat standing at the border. What was wrong with it's face? And the way it was standing?

Bushes rustled as Willowheart slid into view, her head tilted curiously. She had no reason to be aggressive yet, and the cat standing on the other side of the Thunderpath looked like he could barely tackle an apprentice, let alone a full-grown warrior.
"Hello?"

Not having been thinking of much, per usual, Ryecloud's head shot up when he heard a voice from across the dark path. Great StarClan, was his nose really that bad that he hadn't smelt the strange cat? No, maybe it was just because the Thunderpath scent was really strong, yeah, that had to be it.

With his fur on end, the white and grey tom crouched down in hopes of becoming less visible, but even though his heart pounded inside his chest, he slowly limped closer to the Thunderpath. While he'd heard many stories of how rival-clan cats only caused trouble, the crippled tom had never encountered cats like that, which made his curiosity towards the cat across the Thunderpath even stronger.

"Helro?" the crooked jawed warrior mewed when he reached the black path. Looking around in attempt to find the voice, his eyes fell upon a black and white she-cat who seemed to be looking right at him. Now that he thought about it, he'd never actually encountered a cat across the border and while curiosity tugged him to her, he stayed put, still unsure of the situation.

The sleek she-cat relaxed, and the warmth that the small she-cat usually felt was returning to her. "Hello there," She mewed, taking a tentative step across the Thunderpath. It's not like it was against the code to make friends, right? And the Thunderpath was technically no cat's land. Perhaps she could set aside the age-old arguments that had kept the clans apart for so long and just have a nice conversation.

IC: Surprised that the she-cat had taken a step onto the Thunderpath, Ryecloud took a step back, his ears laying flat on his head. He couldn't quite remember the rules about borders and while he was intrigued, something still felt wrong about this. But even so, he didn't flee, but instead stayed where he was, his breathing becoming rapid and muscles stiff as the she-cat spoke. "U-uhh," was all the crippled tom could reply as he stood there. Having took a step backwards, his limp hind leg gave way under his uneven weight and the tom fell to his rump. Quickly getting back up, he snapped his unsure gaze back to the she-cat, unknowing of what to do and feeling even more dumb than before.
