Clanmate Acquaintances (closed)

Limping next to Hollowbranch, Ryecloud was as silent as ever. The crippled tom hadn't spent much time with Hollowbranch or any of his clanmates for that matter, and hoped that he wasn't coming across as rude in being so quiet. He never meant to seem snobby or ill-mannered with his lack of words, but with his abnormality, he'd decided that it was best to keep his mouth shut or else cats would just think even more weirdly of him, on top of what they already thought of him. "He's a burden to the clan. He never reacts right, what's his deal? Don't let him near the kits, who knows what he'll do," his clanmates would constantly attempt to say inaudibly, though they didn't realize that while he may be a bit slow, he still had just as good of hearing as anyone else. Even now, Ryecloud was positive that his clanmate was at least a bit annoyed at his impairment, especially since he wasn't able to move as fast as other cats because of his limp hind leg, so it was taking a bit longer to get to the border than usual.

Letting out a sigh, the crooked jawed cat shook away the thoughts and focused on the task ahead of them. Both toms had been given the task to patrol some of the borders together, and so they made their way to their first destination, the Gorge border. Nothing ever seemed to really happen there, seeing that it was a pretty obvious physical border between the clans, but even so, they'd been instructed to do so, and Ryecloud wasn't one to complain.

Hollowbranch walked along in comfortable silence with the other tom, Ryecloud. He was a fun tom, and very quiet like him. He did not mind one bit, as he was quiet as well. The warrior walked slower so he could keep up. It would be much rude to take off without his partner. As they neared the ridge before the gorge, he finally spoke. "It is odd that we have never spoken before." he said casually, sweeping his tail to the side.

IC: Slowing to a halt, Ryecloud and Hollowbranch stood near the edge of the gorge. A breeze ruffled his fur and the roar of the raging water made his ears lay flat on his head. He didn't exactly know if this was true, but for him, every sound seemed to be even louder than it should be, which made the tom constantly on edge and sometimes even left his heart racing. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't just sensitive to sounds, but also sights and other sensations, which made life a struggle for the tom. Everyday he tried his best to keep his worry and fear towards the world to himself, seeing that his clanmates already thought he was weird enough.

Why StarClan made him like this, he would never understand.

Not really thinking about anything in particular, he let out a huff, his gaze still focused on the "death bringer" bellow. The sudden loud, amplified sound of Hollowbranch's voice made the warrior jump in his skin and he turned to look at his clanmate, no emotion on his crooked face. "Yesh," he mumbled simply and turned his head back to the gorge. He never really understood the concept of small talk or conversations in general and the fact that he was being somewhat rude never ever crossed his mind as he stood there.

Hollowbranch shifted awkwardly after he marked the border. He moved on for a bit, and then paused. Maybe he didn't know his name? "My name is Hollowbranch if you didn't know." Hollowbranch was quiet himself, but he wasn't sure how to act now. He looked back across the gorge, the raging water below making him slightly uncomfortable.

Swiveling his ears in the direction of Hollowbranch, he listened as the tom walked around marking the border and then the sound of paw steps stopped. Not moving his head, he concentrated on his clanmate's voice, trying to drown out the overwhelming sound of the water bellow them.

"I bo," the lame tom mewed softly, not moving his head to make eye contact with Hollowbranch, but instead keeping his gaze at the gorge. "Band you bo voo I vam?" he mumbled, still not moving a muscle. He found it odd that cats who've lived with each other their whole lives could barely know who they actually were, though he assumed that Hollowbranch knew who he was. The weirdo, the freak, the cat with no emotion, so rude. All of which were true, he of all cats would know.
