Nutpaw's Warrior Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a Clan meeting!" Fishstar yowled.

Nutpaw stepped out into camp and padded over to beneath the willow branch, curious about what Fishstar would be saying. Probably an apprentice ceremony or another apprentice's warrior ceremony. Patiently, she waited for the leader to continue speaking, it not even occurring to her that this might be her own ceremony.

"Nutpaw, please step forward," Fishstar beckoned.

Nutpaw wasn't expecting what came next. At first she was confused, then in a moment she realized what was happening. She was finally going to become a warrior. A wide grin stretching across her maw, she obeyed, stepping forward and looking up at Fishstar.

"I, Fishstar, leader of RiverClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to learn the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in turn. Nutpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" She looked sternly to the apprentice.

As Fishstar spoke the sacred words, they hardly even registered in Nutpaw's mind. Just memories from her lief so far fadd in and out in her mind, like in a dream. Finchstream, Echopaw, Flowerpetal, Smokefang... their faces appeared in her mind's eye. Then she saw Redfur. Her mother seemed to be standing right next to her, but this time it felt more real. She could tell that her mother was watching her from StarClan, almost joining her for this special moment. As the leader finished her words, everything felt surreal. But a flame of excitement, determination, and fierce passion ignited in her chest. She had known since she was a kit what her answer would be.
"I do."

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. From this day forth, you shall be known as Nutblaze. RiverClan honours your passion and determination." Ivyfall yowled with delight, looking down at the newly named she-cat from where she stood next to her leader, Fishstar. However it couldn't all be celebrations and chanting. "As per tradition, you will hold a silent vigil alone tonight, however for now we can celebrate your ascension to warriorhood. May StarClan watch over you, Nutfur."

The newly named Nutfur grinned with pride and ecstasy as she was made a warrior, whispering her new name repeatedly. Nutfur... Similar to Redfur. She looked to where she had thought she had seen her mother, and now saw nothing, but still felt her presence. Pride swelled in her, and she broadened her grin. She was a warrior now. She would serve her clan to the best of her ability, and join Finchstream in the warrior's den.

Finchstream, who had been watching proudly from the crowd, jumped to her paws and cheered her best friend's new name along with the rest of the RiverClan cats gathered; her voice rang the loudest though, a rarity for the normally serene she-cat.  "Nutfur!  Nutfur!  Nutfur!"  Stepping forward, the petite molly nuzzled her friend's shoulder, smiling broadly"Congratulations!  Now you can finally join us in the warriors den!"  Even on this happy occasion though, the pangs of depression still managed to break through...there should have been another cat with them today.  Don't be sad, not now.  This is a happy moment.  With a dismissive blink, the young warrior closed her eyes and let out a purr.  Her friend was finally a warrior!

Nutfur's smile widened even further as the clan chanted her name, Finchstream's voice being the most noticeable. She returned the nuzzle as her friend trotted up to her, glad to finally have joined her in the rank she worked so hard to get to. "Thanks Finchstream. I'm super exited for that."
