Drift's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats of Skyclan old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the tallbranch for a clan meeting!" Rippedsky's yowl rang through the clearing. His claws scored the tallbranch once more. There had been a lot of ceremonies lately, something he was grateful for. The deputy's blue eyes scanned the clearing as he waited for the clan to assemble.

Drift trotted out of the nursery, acting calm, though her eyes shone with curiosity. What would it be like as an apprentice? She quickly took her place on the Tallbranch.

"Drift, please step forwards." Rippedsky called as soon as the kit joined the crowd. It was finally time to have her officially join the ranks as an apprentice. A soft smile wormed its way onto his maw. As soon as Drift padded forwards, the deputy continued, "We gather once more to name another young cat as one of the clan's apprentices. Drift is old enough to begin training. From this day forwards, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Driftpaw. Duskflower will be your mentor. I expect she will pass on all of her wisdom to you." While still young herself, Rippedsky had no doubt his adoptive daughter could handle it. This would be her first apprentice and he knew she would be a great mentor to Driftpaw.

The dusky colored she cat had been sitting quietly among the crowd watching the ceremony. At first she didn't register her name was said but she blinked and stood slowly taken by surprise at her getting an apprentice. A trickle of nervousness seeped into her but she pushed it down. She was sure her adopted father trusted her to train an apprentice. Padding forward slowly her golden eyes focused on Driftpaw. She dipped her head touching noses with the she cat."will start training in the morning"She said smiling some. Duskflower was definitely nervous but also quite excited to train her first apprentice.

Driftpaw nodded her head to the Skyclan deputy before elegantly pouncing off of the Tallbranch and landing lightly onto the ground. After touching noses with her new mentor, she raised her head, amber eyes glinting as she stared into the aqua sky, before bounding off into the forest, the cool air rushing through her pelt.
