All scratched up (Healing topic, medicine cat/s needed)

Asterpaw felt a hint of guilt, speeding ahead in front of Tinytip as soon as Riverclan's camp came into view. The burning sensation in her leg was starting to overwhelm her, however, and suddenly she understood why Tinytip was so adamant about getting to the Medicine Cat's Den quickly. That owl packed quite a punch, she thought, as she stumbled into the medicine cat's den, landing on the ground with a painful hiss. A decent sized claw mark ran across her right forearm, with the blood surrounded it mostly dried out. Even the sight was making her woozy.

"We need help," Asterpaw said, before turning her head around. Hopefully her mentor hadn't just collapsed onto the ground.

Icepaw had been busily sorting herbs for the billionth day in a row when the pungent stench of blood hit her nose.

She turned as she heard voices approaching, and when she caught sight of the mess, the fur along her spine prickled. Cloudstone had just left the camp a few moments ago to collect fresh moss, and conveniently, this was when an incident had decided to occur. It wasn't the sight of blood making the young she-cat's skin crawl, but she'd never dealt with injuries on her own thus far.. She knew her herbs quite well already, but it was daunting nonetheless.

She whisked her tail in the direction of the den's entrance, signaling for them to follow. "Cloudstone isn't here right now, but I'll, uh.." She swallowed hard, and guided both cats along with her. Don't be an idiot. ".. I'll do my best."

Tinytip arrived the camp just a few seconds later than her apprentice, carrying the dead owl. She approached the fresh-kill pile, glancing from the corner of her eyes how Asterpaw entered the medicine cat den. The warrior left the bird sighing gladly to see that the apprentice was getting immediate treatment after the fight they had.

The black and white she-cat walked into the den, guided by Icepaw, and laid down close to Asterpaw, who seemed pretty exhausted and in pain. The amber eyes of the young warrior looked at the medicine cat's apprentice, thankfully. "Thank you, Icepaw, for your help. Can you please heal Asterpaw first? I already had some experience about getting hurt so I can handle the pain a little bit more." She purred, glancing back at Asterpaw with concerned and motherly eyes.

Asterpaw dipped her head, mute. With her focus mostly divided between listening to the medicine cat apprentice and not aggravating her wound even more, she didn't have the energy to give any kind of greeting or encouragement, like she usually did. Not even a 'thank you. Mother wouldn't be very impressed, She thought idly, after following Icepaw.

Fortunately, Tinytip was able to complete those formalities instead. Lying down on her stomach, Asterpaw carefully laid the injured limb out, green eyes flicking up to Icepaw. "This is th' only wound. Thankfully. Stings a lot."

Icepaw nodded, and turned away to sniff around the herb stash. Asterpaw's leg wound wasn't all that serious, but according to her, stung quite a bit.. What would be good for that? The apprentice racked her brain on lessons about small gashes, eyes skimming over neatly-organized rows of leaves, nuts, and roots.

Ah. Her gaze fell on a pile of cob nuts. They were good for soothing pain in minor open wounds. Carefully scooping som up into her jaws, Icepaw chewed the nuts into a fine pulp, turned back to her Clanmate, and laid the paste over the cut. She spread it evenly with a delicate paw, and then tucked back into her stashes. "That should.. Uh.. Lift some of the stinging," she murmured, spearing a bundle of cobwebs with her claws to lift them up. When she turned to the two again, she paused. "What happened to you guys?"

Tinytip licked some of the blood while Icepaw was helping her apprentice until she asked her something. She looked with warm amber to the young medicine apprentice, who probably never had to face the dangers of the predators of the outside. "I was training Asterpaw to teach her some things about swimming when an owl attacked us from the sky. Thanks to Starclan I noticed that predator before it was too late and, after a long fight, we were able to defeat and bring it back to camp as prey." She said calmly and more relaxed than a few moments before. Now that they were in the camp, she felt safer and she could finally lay her tired body to rest from the fight and the fears she had.

Asterpaw instinctively winced as Icepaw applied a chewed up, brown paste onto her wound - to help stop the stinging, apparently. She didn't know why she had reservations about the ointment - this was the Medicine Cat apprentice after all - but almost instantly, the pain in her wound lessened. She gave a quiet, "Thank you," blinking at the question.

She nodded as Tinytip gave the important details of their encounter, adding to the answer after he mentor finished. "Yes. It swooped in from above, out of nowhere, and clawed at us with it's... well, claws. Certainly caught me off guard."

Icepaw placed a couple of cobwebs on Asterpaw's wound and then turned back into her den.

Fighting an owl? That sounded.. Exciting.

Of course, receiving wounds and having to lie around and wait for them to heal wasn't exciting. That was the dull - and painful - part of being a warrior, but.. Defending her Clan against invading Clans, and rogues, and airborne attackers? It was all Icepaw had ever wanted since she could ever remember wanting anything. Battle was bloody, and brutal, and would have a lasting impact on a cat's life afterwards, but nothing compared to throwing one's life on the line for their Clan.,

.. And Icepaw was stuck chewing up plants and being a counselor.

"I'll just give you some cobwebs for now," the she-cat said as she approached Tinytip. She placed them neatly over all of the warrior's major cuts to let them soak the blood up. "Your wounds are a little deeper, so ointments would just be messy."

The little warrior frowned because of the pain of the cobwebs over her wounds but didn't say anything and stayed still so the medicine cat apprentice could do her job. She sighed relieved when she felt that the pain was slowly fading and smiled to the little she-cat. "Thank you, Icepaw. You're really good on this." She complained as she looked to her younger apprentice. "Are you feeling better, Asterpaw?"
