Halfkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats of Skyclan old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the tallbranch for a clan meeting!" Rippedsky's yowl rang through the clearing. His claws scored the tallbranch once more. There had been a lot of ceremonies lately, something he was grateful for. The deputy's blue eyes scanned the clearing as he waited for the clan to assemble.

Halfkit's tiny figure tumbled out of the nursery and stopped abruptly under the tallbranch. Her fluffy black fur stuck out in all directions; she had managed to escape Bubblemist's tongue. She tried to sit calmly like everyone else, but she was shivering with excitement. Could this be what she thought it could be? She was so ready to prove herself to her littermates, to show that she could do just as much as them despite her size.

"Halfkit, please step forwards." Rippedsky called as soon as the abnormally tiny kit joined the crowd. It was finally time to have her officially join the rank of apprentice. It was yet another one of Bubblemist's kits. A soft smile wormed its way onto his maw. As soon as Halfkit padded forwards, the deputy continued, "We gather once more to name another young cat as one of the clan's apprentices. Halfkit is old enough to begin training. From this day forwards, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Halfpaw. Dandeliondapple will be your mentor." His own kit had become rather troublesome since her warrior ceremony. She was headstrong and a little irrational, but underneath it all she had a good heart. Hopefully, she would mentor her sister's kit well. He planned on watching the training with interest.

Dandeliondapple stepped toward Halfpaw, looking a little menacing with the scars across her face and her forelegs. But her eyes gleamed and her smile was as wide as it could possibly be. "I will protect you no matter what, Halfpaw. You'll be a great warrior."

Halfkit stepped foreward when Rippedsky called her. Despite her excitement, She couldn't help but being a little surprised. She continued to shiver as she gazed out at all of her clanmates. She looked up at Rippedsky as he gave her her apprentice name and mentor. Her eyes widened as she saw Dandeliondapple step foreward. She looked so... intense! But Halfkit- Halfpaw- hoped that that meant she would be able to train her to be the best. Better than any of the other apprentices, better than anyone in the clan. She took a deep breath, controlled her shaking, and stepped towards her new mentor. She nodded as Dandeliondapple spoke. "Thank you," she meowed confidently, and she meant it.
