Patrolly Time [Nevermore/Open]

Wildheart poked his head into the apprentices' den. It wasn't too long ago that he himself had been sleeping here. Careful not to wake any of the other apprentices, he nudged Dustpaw. "C'mon sleepyhead, time for your first day of training," he whispered, backing out.

Dustpaw stumbled from his nest, shaking his head roughly to drive away the sleep still clinging to his eyes and hazing his mind. He looked blearily at his mentor, Wildheart, and yawned hugely. "I'm up, I'm up..." he grumbled, shaking his pelt fiercely before perking up and bouncing slightly. "So, what are we doing today?" He asked, eager to go out with the warrior after being cooped up in camp for six moons.

"Are you two heading out?" Slatethroat's low meow rumbled as he padded over to the mentor and apprentice pair. He'd always been rather fond of Wildheart, since their days as apprentices together. And now, more than ever, he longed to roam the moor without an apprentice of his own at his heels. Training both Talonpaw and Dovepaw was exhausting. They were both becoming fine warrior, each in their own ways. Besides, being around Dovepaw was always a welcome distraction. The warrior had grown quite fond of his pretty, young trainee. But today she was off on her own hunting mission, as was Talonpaw, leaving the grey and white tom with some free time, "Mind if I join you?"

"Can I join too?" An energetic, and bored, Laurelpaw jumped up from her comfortable grassy patch and trotted up to the group, sleek speckled tail waving with excitement. Though she was still an apprentice, the young she-cat had reached her full height and could look the two warriors in the group eye-to-eye with relative ease. Yellowish-green eyes shining, she purred and sat down as she waited for an answer.

Before he could answer his apprentice, Slatethroat padded towards them. He nodded at the fellow warrior and friend. "Of course. I was about to show Dustpaw here the borders," he said. As he turned to lead the patrol out, he saw Laurelpaw bounding towards them and asked to join. "The more the merrier," he purred. With a flick of his tail, he lead the group out of the camp towards the ShadowClan border. Stopping the group when they arrived, he looked to Dustpaw. "What do you smell?" he asked, a slit tilt to his head.

Laurelpaw smiled as she watched Wildheart begin to show Dustpaw the ropes, remembering fondly when Silentstrike had done the same for her.  Sniffing the air, the lithe white and speckled she-cat began to pad a little ways away from the group to look for her own prey, not wanting to disturb the training session.
