The start of an epic tale.

Rowantalon approached the nursery. The death of his mate was still shocking, and the tom often expected to turn around and see her, resting it the sunlight or waiting to share a mouse.

He ducked inside and felt his heart swell as he looked at his kits- his three beautiful kits. One, the female was the very image of her mother, as beautiful and delicate as falling leaves.
The other two were handsome young toms. One was was strong and desperately curious, with fur sticking up in tufts. The other was quiet, with fur as black as crow's feathers.
He approached the three, forcing down a lump in his throat and purring. It sounded coarse, like it hadn't had much use. Indeed, a few days ago the tom thought he would never purr again.

He nudged them gently. "Come explore the camp," He mewed. "Everyone wants to meet you two."

OOC: Echomocha, there's another one two now.

Leafkit squinted up at her father, and excitement filled her chest. "Are we really?" she squeaked happily, nearly bouncing on her paws. At a nod from her father, Leafkit scrambled up from the floor and walked over to the exit of the nursery. She looked out onto the clan, and was suddenly hit with feelings of shyness.

"What if... what if I mess up? Or nobody likes me?" she mewed, looking down halfheartedly.

"Don't worry." He purred encouragingly, nudging her out of the den. "Everyone's really friendly."

He turned to Tuftkit and Crowkit, who were still in the nursery. "C'mon," He mewed gently.

Leafkit glanced at her father before nodding. "Ok..." She stepped out into the Shadowclan camp, heart throbbing in her chest. The soft earth underneath her paws and the cool breeze greeted her as she walked forward. There were so many cats! Leafkit struggled to take it all in, and huddled closer to Rowantalon.

Tuftkit followed on his clumsy big paws, after his sister Leafkit and instantly regretted it. The sun was bright and everyone was busy doing something. There was so many cats! He had only seen his father and a few of the queens, but never this many.

"Why is the sun so bright?"He asked, half curious, half annoyed.

Crowkit stayed behind curled up. He didn't want to go outside. He was too nervous on what was out there. He sighed as he saw his father, sister, and brother all leave. 'Should I go?' He thought for a bit before getting up and slowly walking towards the entrance of the nursery. He stopped at the entrance and sat down trying to get used to the light of the outside.

The tom chuckled, stepping aside and letting the camp see all three of his kits.

He picked up Crowkit by the scruff and set him down gently next to his siblings. "Go on," He coaxed. "I'll be with you."

Leafkit cautiously made her way to the center of the camp, where the fresh kill pile was. No one had seemed to notice her yet, and she was itching to talk to someone, to squish the rising nervousness in her body.

Crowkit stood next to his father, not wanting to be apart from him since he was too shy. He looked up at him and asked, "C-can you teach me who everyone is?" He signaled to the other cats going about their day.

Tuftkit bounced up and down beside his brother Crowkit eagerly, "Can you, can you, can you?" He asked excitedly. He wanted know everyone, maybe even make a friend!

Rowantalon nodded. "Over there is Leopardstar- he leads Shadowclan. He has four sons, if I'm not mistaken, and one daughter. And over there, organizing patrols, is Magpiewing. He's the deputy. There's Honeydrop with her apprentice, Roaringpaw. They're medicine cats. There's Silentstorm- he was my old mentor. He has four kits- they just became apprentices."

The tom nudged his kits forward with one paw. "Go on now, find someone to talk to!"

Tuftkit edged forward, eager to find a friend.
