Torrentkit, Fennelkit, and Flamekit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a Clan meeting!" came Fishstar's call from the perch that rose above the camp.

Fennelkit smiled eagerly as she came from the nursery. Her blue gaze glanced back to her shy and timid sister"c'mon Torrentkit"She mewed before she sat down

Torrentkit lingered at the nursery entrance quietly before she slowly came from it her fur sleek and clean but she moved with hesitation and nervousness.

Flamekit lumbered out of the nursery. The orphaned kit was ready.

"Flamekit, Fennelkit, and Torrentkit," Fishstar beckoned, "step forward."

Fennelkit smiled her light blue eyes eager. She padded forward and glanced to her shy sister.

Torrentkit blinked giving a tiny squeak as the attention was put on her. Quietly she scrambled forward next to her sister.

"The two of you have now reached six moons, and that means you are ready to be apprenticed. From this day forth, until you are deemed worthy to be named warriors, you two will be called Torrentpaw and Fennelpaw, respectively. Torrentpaw, your mentor will be Shellwater. She is an experienced warrior that will train you well. Fennelpaw, I entrust you to Sootwhisper, I know he has much to teach you." Ivyfall meowed solemnly, then glanced over to the two warriors in question.

"Sootwhisper, Shellwater, it has been a difficult few moons for RiverClan, but I pray that you find the strength to overcome these challenges. The clan must survive, and these new apprentices are our lifeblood. Train them well, train them hard." The statement was more aimed at poor Shellwater, who couldn't catch a break. The death of her kin, and the disappearance of Otterleap had to be heart-breaking, but with warriors going missing, she couldn't give the she-cat more time of peace. The clan had to survive.

Shellwater sat inside her den, as usual, staring at the ceiling and watching the shadows dancing in the late greenleaf sunlight that she had come to know so well. When her ears pricked up to hear a Clan meeting summons, the calico slowly made her way out of the warriors' den to watch the two young kits become apprentices. She thought nothing of the ceremony until her name was mentioned as one of the mentors. Then her head shot up in alarm. Me- me, mentor one of these she-cats? The last apprentice I had was stolen by the Mist, right under my nose! Why.... why would you trust me with another one? The last message that the RiverClan deputy spoke, her light blue eyes piercing into the experienced warrior's orange ones, made its way to her heart. Okay. If Ivyfall was truly going to trust her enough to give her another apprentice, she wouldn't let her down. Forcing herself onto her feet, the scarred black-and-orange she-cat padded over to her new apprentice, a young she-cat with eager eyes. Seeing this Torrentpaw warmed her heart, making her remember her own days as an apprentice. Her burnished orange eyes softened as she bent down to touch her nose to the apprentice's. "Training starts tomorrow. Don't be late."

Fennelpaw glanced to her sister before looking around for her mentor
