Oakkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Mottleheart's ears laid slicked back on his head as he stared up at the Tallrock. He...He wasn't ready for this. He wanted to pace back and forth or-or just back out of it. This wasn't his position to do so but...He took in a deep breath as he bunched up his muscles, leaping upwards as he scrambled onto the rock. The view from the top was...Interesting. He had never really seen the camp from this view as he looked down at the cluster of cats that lingered around the camp. Why couldn't Ashstar or Brindlewhisker be the one doing this? He wasn't the deputy! He was just a warrior but this responsible had been trusted onto him...And he wasn't going to let the two of them down.

"Le-Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" His voice shook as he lifted his voice to ring across the clearing that was the camp, closing his eyes as he took in a deep breath after those words left his mouth. He could do this. He...He was pretty sure he could do this.

Oakkit walked to the Tallrock, slightly surprised to see Mottleheart speaking the call instead of Ashstar, or even Brindlewhisker. But he quickly snapped out of it, nothing would phase him today. Today, he would become an apprentice! He reached Mottleheart and sat in front of the Tallrock, giving a smile to the warrior.

Mottleheart glanced down as he spotted Oakkit sit among the gathered cats, briefing feeling himself relieved at the small smile that flashed on the fluffy brown kit's face. For a few moments he lingered, waiting for the other cats to gather before he cleared his throat with a swish of his tail. He knew the words he had to speak by heart - he had certainly heard them enough times to memorize them.

"Oakkit," he called out, as he focused his gaze on the young kit, trying to block out the sight of all the other cats staring at him. "You have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Oakpaw...." And then he paused, his ears slicking back as he realized the new few words he had to state.

Mentor. Oh StarClan he had to pick a mentor. Panic almost starting to rise in his throat as he spun his gaze to stare at the gathered warriors, his eyes shifting from cat to cat as he tried to think of which one would work. He could certainly give Oakpaw to himself or... Finally his eyes landed on a certain light brown tabby. He would do perfectly. "Brackenberry will be your mentor. I hope he will pass down all he knows on to you."

Oakpaw's eyes lit up. He was Oakpaw now! He had a mentor! He couldn't wait to start training.
